As stated here: https://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/news ... xtension2/ he signed a new deal.
This means it wasn't an option taken but a new contract signed to extend his stay at the club for an extra year on what I imagine will be different terms.

...you "imagine"...about right...so every "new deal" is a "new contract" according to you..is that right?..do you work for the fail per chance ?..err..ok pal...but mols signed an 12 month extension to an existing contract last time around..that's not a "new contract"...that's an extension to an existing contract.. an option to extend..agreed by both parties..but you can call it a new deal if you want...but it will not have an option to extend it and somehow force him to stay

Not every extension is a new contract. As has happened with Killip and Grey they have had a clause within their contract which extends their existing deal for an extra year. This also happened with Shelton and Timi last season hence why they are now both out of contract as we have to negotiate a new deal with each. However in Molyneuxs case it wasn’t a clause that was activated but a new deal (as stated on the club website) which was negotiated to keep him at the club. This could mean that deal contains a unilateral option (fingers crossed on this) or it could not.

..just for the sake of argument..what if there is a UEO on the "new deal"...what do you think that means..."fingers crossed on this"?

That due to Luke agreeing to the terms of the UE within his signed contract, the club can extend his contract for a year to ensure the player remains playing for Hartlepool for the next season and not leave for free this summer.

..fantasy land....you are obviously a fail journo..

1."new deal" my arse....the extension to mols existing contract has expired..an extension cannot contain a UEO...
2.UEO anyways are legally unenforceable in uk law...options are in fact in reality only ever bilateral agreements....
3.afraid mols can leave and there is nothing you or anyone can do about it..

...put away your viz....uncross your fingers ..and read on..

I wonder if our new high tech recruitment manager with his electronics selections/ roulette wheel system is organising the retained list…if he’s still there.
Maybe the computer has taken over and sacked him.

How many years did we wait for say a good manager to come along in DC. From the previous really good manager we had. I fear our luck isnt there with this one and we may be in that twilight zone of testing untested managers again until we get it right. Williamson sounds like hes going in as a favourite atm - another Spike scenario im afriad with that one
The lad from Scotland, again too young and no english league experience.

Phil Brown. Not sure whats happened with his career tbh hasnt seemed to of done anything with his last 4 clubs. Cant see him bringing success to Pools, feel like it would just be another team on his cv. Need someone who doesnt just see this as a stepping stone on their career ladder or last pay day.

I’m hoping based on the time frame and the obvious mention from Raj to BBC Tees that he’s just waiting to see what happens with Pete Wild and Halifax.
Wouldn’t be against Williamson! Gateshead play some really exciting stuff but he’s only had 1 full season in management and they do play against part time teams…
Thomson I’m hoping is just agent talk to try and get the Scottish team that want him to increase their offer

Share your concerns too over Williamson, bit of a gamble and some people would scream it was the cheap option. Can’t disagree with anything you’ve said there and hope the Scottish connection is just column filler stuff.

Feels odd that it wouldn’t be announced unless the clubs season hadn’t finished yet which would mean National League surely?

Interview question from Raj.
"what would be your main priority as manager"

Answer from candidate.
"beat Stockport home and away"

Reply from Raj.
"congratulations you have the job"

this just posted on bettingodds.com

Hartlepool’s search for a new manager has heated up after two new names stormed towards the top of the betting market.

First up, in as the new frontrunner for the Pools post we have ex-Sunderland manager Simon Grayson at evens with BetVictor, cut from 12/1 in the next Hartlepool manager odds.

The experienced Grayson has spent the majority of the last 17 years employed in the Football League, having had seven spells at eight different clubs where he’s won four promotions.

However, while he enjoyed successful promotion-winning tenures in his first four jobs, he’s endured a rather tough time of late at Sunderland (18 games), Bradford (14), Blackpool (38), and most recently League One side Fleetwood (43), with whom he left in November following a run of seven defeats in eight matches.

The unemployed 52-year-old is now under consideration at Hartlepool, according to The Northern Echo journalist Matty Jones, but there have been reports that he could be set to jet off to India for a new experience in charge of defending champions Jamshedpur - formerly managed by Owen Coyle - while he features in the next manager markets for numerous clubs spread out across the EFL.

Noticed that, I reckon Putin sent them (The Terry Plywood Spetsnaz) , or…….they are all the same person, or….. sleepers planted by the ‘professionals’ to keep us in our place while they sit on their hands and just accept the mantra’s handed down to them, or…….Jehovah’s Bystanders.
Take your pick.

It seems as if a case can be made against every candidate. They are either green as grass or have been sacked a few times.
Appointee usually comes as a surprise having never been on the radar but whoever gets it needs decent backing and a big dollop of good luck.

Trouble is, there’s no ‘business’ like football management for rewarding failure and giving ‘one last chance’ to people who have visibly proven their only talent in football is persuading gullible owners they can do a job and get selected. It ‘s like interviewing for a ship’ captain whose previous five ships sank due to incompetence yet you repeat the error enthusiastically..
It’s not hard to make a case against most managers, they have a talent for cock ups but while the owners are usually gullible, the fans aren’t.
You can’t blame fans for being wary as all clubs have a history of believing some gobshite baffling and hypnotising the board with his past achievements and England Cap (under 10’s, 2 appearances) and they fall for the patter…. resulting in the realisation he couldn’t manage a Subbuteo team.
Green managers are a gamble, but it’s down to a club doing their research and using reliable contacts instead of adopting this ‘lets’s give the job to Gary Bloke’, failed manager x 7 and great after dinner speaker and apply industrial standards instead of old boy standards.
Football is the only business where you’re allowed to run the ship onto the rocks and no one will try to stop you before it’s too late.

Agree with you there Snowy.
If it's a choice out of Williamson and Grayson, I know who I'd prefer and it's not the man who has years of experience

What makes it worse are the massive salaries and payoffs for failure ,, so you can have managers going from club to club and failing at every one and making a very good living
