I've heard all future people knighted will get vouchers for Pizza Express, you can only use it in the Woking branch however.

3 election victories, significant increases in health and education spend, minimum wage, devolution, the Northern Ireland peace process, significant reductions in poverty and real incomes increasing by 18%.
What did the Romans do for us?

Started salami slicing services from our hospital before Labour left power in 2010, where’s the ‘significant increase’ there? Tony’s PFI hospitals were hospitals on tick and a drain on the NHS.
Even the Romans would blush at that.

kept youth unemployment figures low by increasing university places for many who did not need a place to follow their chosen careers. minimum wage became the maximum wage in parts of the country with high unemployment. the start of the political correctness was one of his inventions. a real lover of the EU more than many in his party. who in the north had real incomes increasing by 18 per cent. just more concentration on london and the city. 3 election victories as well against the weakest tory condidates in living memory.

The university’s thing has turned into a self feeding industry. Blair wanted 50% of all school leavers to go to Uni but in practical terms it was nonsense...debt and dud degrees.

was he bothered though about that. helped his youth unemployment no end and split the country yet again by his actions. he must have had some sleepless nights trying to be in favour with his EU mates as well as the yanks at the same time.

It's also a hard fact that he got Labour elected on three consecutive occasions which had never been done before thus keeping the Tories out for thirteen years. I bet Starmer wishes he could get anywhere near that.
He was true to the politicians code of conduct manual by being somewhat economical with the truth but aren't they all.
I don't think the guy who replaced him did the party any favours either.
There's a campaign going on to get him stripped of his knighthood.

Indeed but at the end of the day they are politicians with a personal agenda to succeed in their respective political careers and they achieved that.
Whether it was beneficial to their party or the Country is a matter for debate and that will roll on.
What surprises me is the number of people who expect something different from politicians when it is an obvious fact that they are just ordinary people and erm, well, umm........politicians.
Like I have mentioned on numerous occasions........when you get rid of a politician you replace that politician with another politician.

I always thought it was more of a smirk than a smile.
I always think Blair gave Brown the second ejector seat in the two seat jet, the one that didn’t work.

Just found this.
There were some big hitters in his time. Something of a contrast to now.

According to Keith Starmer, Blair deserves his award for "work in Northern Ireland". Because of course Tony Blair was the only person interested in peace in Northern Ireland, Mo Mowlam was just a figment of our imaginations.

I can't see Sir Keir's Starmer's kudos within the Labour party being pumped up by endorsing anybody being "elevated" to knighthood. Maybe he is looking for a mate at the round table.
I can just imagine the reaction of Momentum during their Christmas get together over cheeses and fine wines !!!!!!
We'll be toasting Dame Abbott next.
My take on these awards is that there is nothing really wrong with them apart from the fact that they get tainted by being pinned onto the wrong chests or dubbed onto the wrong shoulders.

There’s plenty of apologists for good old Tony on the news channels this morning, after listening to them praising his all round brilliance and clever dickishness, I think he deserves to made a Saint ...... and I’m an Admiral in the Dutch Navy.

The petition has now got 550,000 signatures on it. To give him the order of the Garter was at the sole discretion of the Queen. I wonder if she is mumbling "Off with their heads" as we speak. :uhoh:

Seems like the laws regarding criminal damage have changed in the past day. If you don't like a statue you can throw it into the nearest harbour, just ask the Colston Four.

doubt there is a single statue in the whole world that some group or another would like to see the back of. every one is human and no one is perfect.

This change to the law came out only last year...if this is the result, the law is truly an Ass.

If his statue is the size of the Angel of the North, it’ll be comedy gold watching them try to fling that in a dock.... they could base a two part Casualty Xmas special on the aftermath. clappp
