Holohan's chalked off third is a goal all the way - he runs through a crowd of players to put it in.

Agreed - he runs from behind then alongside his defender. Needed a couple of replays to work out his starting position because of the fog, so there is little chance that the linesman could have seen it. And if he's not sure he cannot give the decision.

Sour grapes though, we have had a lot of luck this year. Just ask the Torquay fans about disallowed goals. At least this was not a playoff final

Lets hope this is not going to be a deciding factor at the end of this season.

Shocking offside decision.

fog makes it impossible for me to see what went on....and i'm no expert on offside rules ...and this may be a daft question...but is it possible someone else was ruled offside when the ball was played... and then deemed actively involved in the play.... although it was actually holohan who poked it in ? sctatchinghead

Yes if the other player touched the ball or was in the keeper's way, but I can't see any sign of that - through the murk. Just looks like Holohan reacted fastest to where the ball went.

Linos who take 30 seconds to decide they've 'seen' something, like the last two rarfs who've gone against Pools, really annoy me. Funny how it always happens in away matches isn't it?

Obviously we cudent see their goals on boxing day.
But after watching that then a new keeper is top top priority.
Total Coruption from the Lino costs us a point.
A bit of fast early January buisness required to get that 82k prize money v Blackpool.
UTP.

How long have we been going on about the goalkeeping situation ?
Carson was the last decent keeper we had, since then it’s been hit and miss, mostly miss.
I think it should be the No1 priority above all else.

Mansfield put three balls into the box and scored three goals, considering the management team are both both ex central defenders some serious issues there

The keeper does seem to make our goal massive, when any sort of cross comes in, got to agree a keeper should be first on the list would make a huge difference to us.

I agree.
Killip does not command his six yard box and until he shows signs of doing so he should not even be considered and a replacement is crucial.
However both DC and GL seem to see something that most of us can't see and I'd love to be enlightened as to what that something is.

totally true about carson. the problem is who could we sign to replace killip. its not as if the rest i,ve seen over the last few years with other clubs are that brilliant also. seems all these specialist goalkeeping coaches may be a waste of good money.

There has to be someone who can be brought in. As for all these coaches that are popping up like daisies on the lawn at clubs everywhere, if the keeper is shite, all the coaching in the world won’t change a thing.
The way things are going, every club will have more back room staff than season ticket holders.

Doesn't Mitchell deserve a chance?

I think he does. What's he done wrong when he's played in the Papa Oom Mow Mow Trophy?

I'm no fan of Killip, but perhaps what they see is he's better than the alternative.

Mitchell probably deserves a chance, but the worst bit of goalkeeping I've seen this season was in the Papa John's Trophy vs Carlisle for the second goal. The first goal was from yet another corner that the defence and goalie failed to deal with.

The second goal.... Alessandra put in an inswinging right footed cross from the left. At the time Mitchell was standing on the six yard line. As the cross came in, instead of attacking the ball, he retreated to his goalline only for Mampala to come in and head the ball home from ... the six yard line! It was an inviting ball for the keeper to claim.

A new keeper should be top priority . A central defender who can come and attack the ball shouldn't be far behind. For us oldies a Bill Green comes to mind.

I had the misfortune to witness the Orient hammering and can confirm that Mitchell is not a good goalkeeper. Is he worse than Killip? I don't know but neither of them are are of FL standard for me.

Why not? He seems to have been completely frozen out at the Boro. He's played for their U-23s once this season (back in August) and hasn't even made the U-23 bench since.

Mind you, according to the Borer website they've got NINE goalkeepers on the books at senior and U-23 level. Two of them are currently loaned out in Scotland, but still, WTF?
Seven keepers for two sides?

I'd honestly take him, had a few shaky games along with some good performances. Can't imagine him costing much to loan here either.

yes a central defender who will physically take on anyone in the air and get the ball by any means available. they might be a bit prone to sides with tricky players who play it on the deck but how many times do we actually see teams do this at our standard. possibly our defenders make killip look worse than he is but then he is not the best shot stopper either. think we could find a big donkey at the back much easier than a killip replacement.

surely we can do better than him. the torquay keepers goal comes quickly to mind. even his penalty save did have some luck behind it in that game. bigger flapper than killip for me.
