You're not up for a dip in the sea at seaton carew on Boxing Day then snowy? sctatchinghead

Every morning at sunrise I go down to Seaton with Rat Boy and we gaze in wonder at the group of ‘dippers’ in their huge padded coats heading towards the sea to ‘enjoy’ the ‘benefits’ of immersing your body into the welcoming embrace of the frigid North Sea.
We look at each other, shake our heads and I’ll swear the buggers rolling his eyes.
A long time ago, my instructor told me the seas is for going on. Good advice.

Boxing Day.... eating, reading and exercising rat boy.

Many a eunuch has had his shorts whipped off by the waves after stumbling from their quick dip down here on Boxing day ,it's quite funny..i'll be standing near the mulled wine stall on the promenade

Nearly a million jabs dished out yesterday. Phenomenal effort. The public are getting behind this effort.

yes, but at the expense of the lack of treatment for those who have the other illnesses that are still available and not being treated.

It’s a no win scenario, just be thankful you don’t have to make the decisions.

There is a huge number of volunteers involved in this exercise who have contributed to it's success and none of them are involved instead of or at the expense of treating other medical conditions and the public who are backing it come from every walk of life.

Daughter has been a volunteer since the start and gets all over the place besides her ‘day job’ and on volunteers on her days off.

My daughter likewise. She also runs a Guide pack and helps her Mam with a Brownie pack. Our daughters are just two of a huge amount of people Snowy who look to contribute for the good of the community, and we both puff out our chests with pride for them, and rightly so.
Wouldn't it be a lot better if some of the political point scorers and media fault finders adopted the same attitude as those girls.
The BBC and others opened the news this morning with news of another gathering in the gardens of Number 10 during lockdown.

When they were gleefully hounding Cummings for getting his eyes tested in Barnard Castle by surrounding his home and jostling with each other to get the best picture or comment, they were also stretching the rules, and they were all present at a gathering in the very same number 10 garden attending a press conference ordered by the PM in order to grill Cummings regarding his behaviour. Why did lockdown rules not matter then???? Oh wait it was all in the public interest wasn't it.

Now the same ex villain Cummings is their best friend. Birds of a feather eh? what?

Jamie Wallis MP - a recently elected Tory - have a look at Wikipedia and ask yourself how did such an individual get selected by the Tory party.

Then look at the history of our Police and Crime Commissioner - not the recent stuff - no, his links to Cummins and his previous party allegiances.

Shysters all.

Indeed it makes you wonder about Wallis. It also makes you wonder why the voters put him in. I would be very surprised if he retains the seat at the next GE.
He might walk before he gets kicked out, he looks the type.
The standards are definitely dropping but decent people don't seem to want the job and it isn't just here. How did Macron manage to con the French people.
I don't live in the town so I don't know of the commissioner to which you refer but once again it was the voters who put him/her there.
Like I have said loads of times, Labour have to have a real good look at themselves, and get themselves recognised as a feasible alternative. Non existent opposition, hard left, lack of talent doesn't appeal to the electorate but Labour can't see that. Their only chance is Tory failure but it should be good sound policies, creditable talent and strong leadership. Maybe they'll learn eventually.

The BBC and the rest of the MSM have went from ‘reporting the news” to interpreting the news to their own agenda. Whichever Party is in power will be destroyed bit by bit, people should wake up to this.
They want to influence whoever runs the country.
Just as a matter of interest whatever happened to our ex MP after his time in the spotlight...?

They keep asking because they have feck all really to ask about. What next, Boris never paid his library book fine, no back reflector on his bike, went scrumping or once broke a window in his dads greenhouse.... the reporters are like robots who ejaculate every time they ask a question.

not on about volunteers but doctors and nurses from our local surgeries who have either volunteered their services or have been taken off their day to day workload. if they were bothered that much they could have worked weekends to either vaccinate or open up the surgery. plenty of others work weekends and do 7 day and longer working without a day off.

quite simply that at the moment it does not apply to them and its only care workers that have been involved. its not part of their contract or anyone elses to get a vaccination they do not want.

That's exactly what a lot of them are doing, working longer hours and weekends and have been doing for ages. Even Chris Witty and Jonathon Van Tam have been jabbing. Our local hospitals are doing non covid appointments at the weekends. Nurses are doing twelve hour shifts. If the media concentrated on proper news instead of counting mince pies you would know all about this.

you must be lucky in your area. possibly areas will vary at the moment but its my own area i,m bothered about. local surgeries seem more or less closed till further notice and once christmas eve hits us then that will be that till the new year. good job its not summer as the dandilions will be growing in the pavement cracks up to the surgery with tumbleweed in the car park.

So are you telling me that there will be no medical response in your area for over a week during the Christmas period. I find that extremely hard to believe. I think you are doing the NHS a disservice my friend.

Bojo has just announced there will be no further restrictions before Christmas, following Sunak's announcement of a further one billion pounds aid for hospitality.

cannot answer that with any truth. its just that even now you cannot get an appointment to see anyone. by that i cannot see things improving over the christmas and new year period. know there is usually or was one surgery open but i have a feeling that A and E could be very busy indeed. must admit though i,m not the biggest fan of the NHS in its present even pre covid form. those who live in europe certainly find there services much better than ours. think once the present situation subsides to a more normal situation its something that needs seriously looking at.

Apparently the centre of Bath is deserted at weekends with pub windows boarded up as he stalks the streets of Bath with his lads handing out leaflets calling for the Premiership to be nationalised and all teams 50/50 male female.

That’s the trouble, there is no alternative. Labour are the party of student politics and middle class socialists, while the LibDems are just away with the Fairy’s.

Most of the old men you refer to aren't really Tories but because they are sufficiently interested in their country, they refuse to encourage it's demise by supporting Labour, a party which has allowed itself to be infiltrated by the ideology of the hard left. An ideology that has been rejected by most of the countries who readily adopted it previously.
Would you seriously have preferred a country run by Corbyn, McDonnell and Abbott. Seriously would you????????

I don't think so my friend. Us old codgers have an edge when it comes to extracting the obvious and Mr Horden's rhinocerous skin takes some piercing.
We've seen most of it before, so are used to it.
You keep saying what you think. I'll let you know if you go too far.

Seriously would you????????

think its a case of us old men growing up and seeing whats called the bigger picture. could never imagine that once in my late teens and early 20,s i was so far left i actually thought of joining the communist party. i was not on my own in my crowd. then some want to lower the voting age even further/
