Here's my report from tonight's Football League Trophy Northern Section Group A clash between Hartlepool United and Morecambe where Hartlepool won on penalties following a 2-2 draw.

Cheers Connor. As you say, it's been a while since you last reported on a Pools game!

When Morecambe took the lead towards the end of the first half it was easy to imagine the game developing into an embarrassingly heavy home defeat against a team from a higher division. Didn't happen. UTP.

that actually never looked likely to happen. only thing that did was pools missing chances against a team whose defence did not look too good either.

At least we where back to creating plenty of decent scoring opportunities. The missed open goal from 4 yards out n last minute penalty being the easiest chances.
After last Saturday im feeling more positive of giving Northampton a decent game.
One thing i cant question is DCs Pools always give 100% effort.
Add in the great support and we should be ok to stay up.
UTP.

put it this way we are at least giving our selves headaches over the missed chances compared to not actually having chances ! as was the case this time last year when we could barely get a ball into the opposition box.

Daly might be the shining star the more game time he gets should he perform like that in league games.

I think Daly and Cook should start on Saturday.
