Sad to hear the passing of Tony Toms who was fitness trainer for Pools under Len Ashurst in the early 70s. That was the side that sparked my interest in Pools as a kid. Ashurst and Toms turned that team round and instilled a never say die spirit that was truly inspirational. https://www.swfc.co.uk/news/2021/september/obituary----tony-toms/

Exactly. I hadn't realised Tony followed Len Ashurst to Gillingham then the Wendies. Seems he never lost his love of route marches!

RIP Tony.

I’ve still got his training book  . I bet no one ever questioned his ‘instructions’.
