I've just got one for £10. I'm sure I got one last year too. Monkeybutt explained it to me, but I've forgotten. I think it's along the lines of it was £20 to join then £10 per year, but they still take £20 out then refund £10? Something to do with the way it's/was set up. This sounds about right doesn't it?

Don't worry about this as I'm not.

There was a one off refund to align renewal dates, no idea why that should happen to you twice though.

It was a complete mistake, pm me your bank details confidentially and I'll unrefund you.

The person who originally set up the PayPal payments didn’t do it correctly unfortunately. The first year was meant to be the joining fee and the annual membership and then subsequent years just the annual renewal, but it doesn’t work like that and the recurring payment is always both parts.

There is nothing sinister about the full payment, basically the only person who can change the £20 annual payment into a £10 annual payment is the individual. HUST have no access to anyone’s personal PayPal account to change it on their behalf so instead issue a refund so no one over pay. The more people who log into their account to change it would be brilliant as it saves Michael having to individually process refunds for a bucket load of renewals.

Thanks for renewing though, I would imagine you’ll keep getting an annual part refund until you change the payment to the correct amount.

Richard, there was no joining fee in the beginning, just an annual membership fee reoccurring each year. It was then decided the following year to align the dates, that created the first refund. I have no idea what has happened since or what process the change in fee went through.

I agree on the point that I don’t think for a second there is anything untoward about it, just administration.
