Don’t like em. But I’ve just had a Spanish omelette with ham hock and cheese which was nice. I used to love them bacon and egg pies from Morells before the match. Nip out the king John’s and buy a pork pie and one of them from the indoor market. I couldn’t afford the pies in the ground as they were the equivalent cost of a pint. And on the rare occasions I did get one it took the first half for the minced beef to cool down. I can do the odd slice of bacon and egg flan from a buffet but not quiche. I might get me some custard tarts to watch the game with tomorrow.

I've built bridges and more on a breakfast of 3 boiled eggs and 4 slices of wholemeal toast for years.

Hold the mushrooms. I used to love them but I just can’t do them now. Especially in a quiche. Chesswoods creamed mushrooms on toast I used to have. I think I could manage them on dry toast if they still did them.

Aye poor Monkeybutt, I bet he would've loved to be alive in lockdown now, puts it all into perspective , live for the day, enjoy life while you can, though not to the detriment of your fellow man.

From listening to Monkeybutt on here, I'm sure he did exactly that.

Amen.

I miss Monkeybutt. Still appreciate his humour and culinary prowess/knowledge. Back on topic, which in itself is strange for the Bunker! My late Mam was a master of quiches, she made them for all the family do's. She made a recipe up using cottage cheese, which surprisingly I enjoyed. I don't like the quiches when the cook uses too much cheese, which solidifies on the pastry with a layer of egg custard on the top. If you're decent at making pastry try using wholemeal flour, gives a quiche a different taste and texture. FTR I like quiche.
When mam taught me how to make pastry all she did was open the drawer and got out the Be Ro book she was given at school. Still relevant today.

I went into a bakers and asked the attractive young lass behind the counter for a quicky. She gave me a slap. This continued til I complained as quickies were advertised for a pound. Ah she said, you mean a quiche!!!!! copyright Mr Monkeybutt probably.
