They are taking the piss and need investigating and at the very least should be made to compensate our travelling costs.

Can only think the weather forecast was a bit skewed. I know I went for a walk around 4pm and it was colder than it was forecast to be, maybe same happened over in Halifax, where it is always going to be that little colder, being inland.

Just checked my front lawn and no sign of frost. They are taking the piss. We're as inland as it gets.

When I found out , I thought ok then, I will just watch the rest of Sheff U v Newcastle and then Burnley v Man U. A minute ago my picture went off, and message flashed up, YOUR PASS HAS EXPIRED, if you would like to resume purchase another pass, FFS! modern day life, how things can turn sour very quickly, what am I to do?

Ground was still frozen this afternoon in the fields around Sedgefield, which is only about 12 miles from the sea.
Halifax is right up in the Pennines so it does get proper parky. I used to live in Leeds, which is a decent way down from Halifax, and you'd still get freezing fog for days on end there.

Stupid to leave it for a 7pm kick off though.

If it was frozen at 5-45 it will have been frozen at 1pm which is when the original inspection was booked, so why did they cancel the original inspection. According to the BBC at this very moment it is down to zero in Halifax. That being the case the pitch would not have been affected until way later. It takes a good few hours for a pitch to go from playable to frozen. It needs a good coat of looking at does this. It is zero here and no sign of frost. As I have said, they are taking the piss.

To be fair Derwent, I have seen pitches freeze at games within 30 minutes, okay at 3pm, then frozen at half time, saw this at Ipswich v Newcastle in 1976 and Sunderland v Liverpool in early 80s , both games abandoned at half time.

You guys know by post history I'm a pools fan and a groundhopper. I've visited clubs up and down the pyramid and I do respect most clubs are ran by hardworking volunteers and the weather is often a right pig.

Yet this postponement absolutely reeks. I'm sorry but it does. Some of the social media comments are out of order, but so is postponing a game that late.

Halifax will of wanted to play this game as much as us, after all I think they have won their last 3 at home. Some of the comments on social media about Halifax being scared to play us are just embarrassing. We will play it when the weather is ok, last thing we need is Armstrong being injured on a dodgy pitch.

I see Gus Mafuta got sent off tonight playing at Dover for Borehamwood, typical Gus he's either scoring 2 goals or getting sent off, or both.

was a real wierd day down here with the weather. at 8am when out with the dogs everything was like a bog. actually thought the game would be in doubt due to a waterlogged pitch. by 3pm it was freezing hard without it feeling yhat cold. being 10 miles from the shay i cannot see it being much different. by 10pm it was rock hard and this morning we have had drizzle that was freezing onto tarmac once it fell. i,d love to blame halifax town but in this case they could not have really done things much different.

Meanwhile at Pudsey which is about twelve miles from Halifax, Farsley Celtic beat Darlo 1-0. DC was at the Shay at around 3pm and said it was playable. At 7pm the BBC declared the temperature in Halifax as zero and in my village as zero. We had no frost at all and no sign of it. There is something not quite right in my humble opinion. At 3pm it was freezing hard where you are and DC, having walked on the pitch at about the same time said it was ok and Darlo, just about the same distance from Halifax as you where, played their fixture. Something seems not quite right to me. The evidence is contradicting to say the least.
We will of course just have to accept the decisions that were made and leave it at that.

got to say there are usual suspect every week when any bad weather comes around. halifax are usually there with rochdale, accrington and bradford park avenue. i imagine however if there had been a televised fa cup 3rd round game on tuesday night there against a premier league club they,d have managed to get the game on without much cost either.

Probably the worst area in the UK , for inclement weather , mostly for rain and waterlogging , but also for snow and ice. I walked the Calderdale Way in July, and it was raining cats and dogs, and quite chilly even then, on a so called summers day.

I suspect had it been a big televised cup game, they would've moved heaven and earth to get it on, but that would be the same with all clubs, not just Halifax.

February ? the graveyard month for games getting called off. Last season it was a wasted trip to Solihull for me, not for the first time have I made a wasted trip to watch Pools in February, Barrow..Notts Co...Peterborough, so much so, that I said to myself, I would never again travel to watch an away game in February.
