Fair to say it is i4streaming, & not Pools, who are responsible for the video & sound quality ?

A creditable commentary by young Alex

I4streaming responsible for streaming platform, Pools responsible for their equipment and connecting to the streaming platform.

Same platform for Blyth and Gateshead games and both perfect victory quality.

Pools need to urgently review and do some further testing as they will rapidly lose the pay on the day customers if they don’t sort it out.

Anyway good to get a win and look forward to a good quality picture stream on Tuesday night.

Very appropriate auto spell correction!

To be honest mine was just the same as the Gateshead game no complaints at all except I paid a tenner and I’m a ST holder.

I sat watching the circle go round until 3 pm. When nothing happened I refreshed and tapped the screen and it worked. Was no problem after that.
Well on top first half but seemed to lose our way second half and although I am happy with three points I was glad to hear the final whistle. We have to turn our superiority into goals. Was impressed with Cass.

I’d imagine the difference between the friendly games and this one, and probably future ones is the amount of people watching the stream and the capability of the server. Let’s just be thankful that we can watch the games and use it as an opportunity to get some cash into the club. The tenner you pay to watch the stream is much less than the ticket(s) you would pay, and the rest on an actual match day where you can go to the ground.

Good performance today, other than the first part of the second half. Cass looked quality, Defensively we were pretty solid and our midfield had good control. Will be a good season!

After looking into this it appears the video output is interlaced which leads to the wavy lines on movement on PC’s, iPads etc which don’t have de-interlacing software. On a half decent TV the video should look fine.

Most video streaming uses progressive output which is fine for all as long as your broadband speed is OK.

Hope Pools can sort out for next game.

On my phone video quality was faultless but on casting to tv, quality wasn't so good, just about watchable. At halftime I tried it on my laptop, quality was similar to casting on the telly but I somehow managed to get a 7 second time lag between phone and laptop so it was like having highlights :)
I wonder how many watched the stream and how they did revenue wise ?
Delighted we won UTP

Free for ST holders so imagine about a 1000 households subscribed for it.

I watched bits of the Aussie rules live game on BT bfor pools game.
36000 fans in stadium without facemasks.
WTF is goin on down under.

My reception went downhill when i took the plug out of the socket. When i put the plug back in no problems , so may be a power issue with my laptop.

The rain couldnt have helped things. First time Pools have streamed a game, we expected teething problems and we got them. As long as it improves next time around I will cut them some slack.

just wondered about the rain as it never stopped down in west yorkshire yesterday. all i got was a frozen screen and then buffering. turned it off after one hour. does that class as leaving the ground early. it wasn,t me or my laptop as i streamed a EFL game without problems only a week before.

For those who had poor quality video did it look a bit like this wherever there was movement?

Image

A worse version of this is what I saw and the article it came from https://blog.video.ibm.com/streaming-video-tips/interlaced-video-deinterlacing-for-streaming/ says:

“Have you ever seen video content that looks like the image above, but weren’t sure of the cause? These overt horizontal lines, appearing as pixelation around movement like out of an old school Atari game, are an artifact created from presenting an interlaced source in a progressive format.”

Have had no problems with any of the other clubs streaming so hopefully Pools will look into it.

Mind you, if they promise to win every home game I’m happy to watch a psychedelics wavy line fest any day!

So will have most if they are watching on a device that doesn’t have fancy deinterlacing software or on a very small screen.

Hope the club make sure they are not shooting interlaced video for the next match or put it through a de-interlacing filter as it is uploaded.

If Blyth and Gateshead can stream decent quality images then so should we. For those paying to watch on Tuesday night let’s see how Chesterfield get on.

weather forecast is better for tuesday night so lets see if that was the problem. my lad had problems with his torquay v stockport stream and he put it down to the extra amount of people being on line due to staying at home and avoiding the nationwide bad weather.

If u mixing households tonite be careful.
I heard the curtain grass twitchers were out in force at the weekend resulting in ova a 100 fines.
Plus undercover police/Marshall's have been dishing out OTS fines in the town centre to people not social distancing next.
What next
Army
Armed guards.

Good to see Trumpys on the mend.
Don't be afraid of Covid.

you do not need any police or armed forces now that the greater spotted curtain twitchers are breeding at a rate of knots. expect any day soon a new driving offence will come up where its illegal to drive a soft top car with its roof down or having a window of a car open whilst driving. the speed camara vans can be utilised in catching drivers out. not a fan of trump by any means but he has come up a bit with his statement.
