The reason it's important is because it gives other people in not as accepting an environment the chance to speak out for themselves. It normalises the notion for those who may not have the privilege to speak out due to a variety of circumstances.

There are too many people on this planet who cannot live the lives they want to live for fear of abuse or ridicule (kind of like the ignorance/ridicule in this post) some of us are incredibly lucky to be born into a society that is willing to accept us for who we are.

When I was that age we had men, women and puffs/lezza`s, that is what they were called in the day before our skin got thinner!
If you look back through time, any deviant to the norm has been vilified, either in shows where they have dwarves, bearded women or 7 toed people, it won`t change, people adjust to how they are viewed, bullies love to jump on this.
My humour is different to most, look at comments on here about grooming, never happened but it crops up with regularity as a way of getting at me, doesn`t bother me one bit but it makes them feel good!

its back to the pro players coming out saga. who really bloody cares or are bothered about what anyones sexuality is. go into hospital are anyone bothered or even ask if their doctor or nurse are one way or another. do anyone try to work out if they are so called straight or not. next thing will be someone demanding a new grouping of people away from the present mr. mrs. ms. or miss we have now.
