I was told put an Egg in a pint of water, if it sinks, it's edible/fresh, if it rises, due to the sciencey type stuff the insides turn to Gas, which is liter than the original stuff. Gas is lighter than stuff. (Yip I failed the Sciences) so bad egg rises(Don't eat).

I tried this when I found an Egg on the 28th, last 1 in the box by accident that the BB4 date was 24th. Anyway.

A) It sunk in a pint.
B) It didn't rise daily.
3) Should I have changed the water daily?
D) Is it edible?
5) The water smells a bit Sulphery and has a fillum on the top.
5a) I bought some freash eggs, just in case.
7) 3/5/20 It's still in the bottom of the glass.

In conclusion, is this an experiment, boredom or basic thickness.? Has science or someone lied, or is it an???/....???....something exciting?

Proper sciencey advice will be accepted.

I’d never heard of this but a quick google tells me that egg buoyancy varies and the only way to tell is to break it and smell it. If it’s bad it will give off an odour.

You don`t keep the egg in water you donut, put it in, if it sinks it`s good to use, if it floats you bin it.

When I was a nipper and birds egg collecting was popular (and not illegal then), we would take an egg from a nest and to determine whether it was fresh or not find a puddle or stream and if it floated it was too far on (or dog dip as the saying was), so due to hatch. If it sank we knew it was fresh so easy to blow (put a hole in each end and blow away), then add to your collection.
This was the way things were in those days, thankfully things have moved on for the better.

I buy Cadburys creme eggs as they have a longer shelf life than those in those funny squishy boxes.
