Never heard anyone use dut or half lot though. Although rarf is always pejorative of choice for causers of shenanigans!

On the dut issue - I always think of duts as not having a bobble. For me having a bobble makes it a bobble hat and there is no such thing as a bobble dut.

Half lots used to be standard for old gadgies, little kids got fritters.

I could give you a few examples of rarfs but that would just cause chew.

I knew what a dut was but have never heard of a beanie hat.

I agree with the no bobble explanation.

I dispute the definition of a dut. A dut is a hat with the bottom folded up. A beanie doesn't have the fold.

Agreed, a dut is folded and has no bobble.

Must admit I never knew a half lot was just a Hartlepool thing.

Great work from the media teams though.

Excellent point on the folding of a dut Phil but I do remember seeing duts that were folded up at the back but not at the front. I think this might have been caused by the determination to subvert norms in the post-punk years or even the sartorial flamboyance of the New Romantics. Can't recall the exact date though.

Interesting to see cultural differences expressed through fish and chip portions. Gime Touré spurns the half lot because he sees all fish and chips as unhealthy while the UK raised players opoose the idea of a reduced portion. I reckon Gime was just being polite because every French person I know who has tried proper fish and chips was absolutely disgusted.

I always thought Gimme had a limited grasp of English but he spoke and understood it better than I expected and nice to see him with a smile on his face. Also noticed he has recently started joining in with celebrations etc as there was a time he just walked back to the half way line etc. He is always over to the kids at the end of games shaking hands and stuff which is great to see.

I know he not scoring as much under Challinor and people say they dont get on etc but seems as if he happy in the squad and on the pitch etc.

I was unaware of the various qualifying criteria for something to be a dut. Fold, bobble or none of the above I've always called it a dut.

Good to hear he's looking happy with life. I seem to remember somebody, probably Hignett, saying one of the reasons for him struggling to settle at other clubs was that his English wasn't too good but that it was now. I'd love to see Gime do well and move up to a higher level (hopefully with us). Moving countries is tough for anybody and he's shown a lot of character sticking at it, players in the lower leagues don't get looked after lie they do in the top flight.

I think earlier in the season Touré was on commentary while he was suspended and he seemed pretty good at English. According to transfermarkt he has Malian citizenship so English could actually be his third language.

I thought he was French but with joint Malian citizenship from his family. French is the main shared language in Mali but there a few others spoken so he could easily be onto his third language even if you don't count Hartlepudlian as a full one.

I just wonder how long it will take for him to put the word "like" at the end of every sentence like.

From what I've gathered in most of the former french colonies in Africa French is used as a language by the government and as a mutual way of speaking between different people groups. Arabic is also learnt among Muslims too.

I question the people who call players who don't speak good English lazy.

i call people who don't edit down quotes lazy, but i really wanted to ask you, when you question these people do they answer "blue passports, mate!" ?
On the dut issue, I seem to remember back in the days it just meant brimless headgear, all forms being equally valid.
As regards F&C versus France, Madame Montpoolier introduced them to the clientele of the restaurant she managed and they got along like a house on fire. Mind, this wasn't in Toulouse and being on the beach front might have helped.

It would be great if some of the words could be added into crowd chants......."The refs radged" etc

I’ve had my fillings out with Mark Simpson over the years but he’s done a great job and continues to do so. He’s a bit like a player operating a couple of divisions below where he should be to be honest.

I agree with you about his media work but wasn't it a bit strange going to the dentists together?
