Did Donnelly leave under the Coxall regime? Would any sell on fees go to them if there is one

All the mind the gap stuff was when we were only one division apart, we were flying in League One they were in the fourth division!

I don’t remember much or any gloating when they actually went pop or much interaction since. The ‘gap’ is about the same as when we chortled but right now we have little to chortle about and haven’t for ages.

I think you're right on that Mutters, I'm sure it was then played back at them when we went up (and they didn't) by the likes of ECG, the formula being "Mind the gap... ooh me ribs!" as it was no longer relevant.

I think to be honest that while some will have been keen to celebrate their demise, most of us knew that it could so easily be Pools going bust - after all, we almost have so many times over the years and only really had financial stability under Sir Harold and then IOR. The only real difference was the feeling of the chickens coming home to roost after the George Reynolds era and the White Elephant that certain Loids were keen to promote as them being about to leave us well and truly in the dust while they became a true rival to the three big NE teams - something we've never really seriously thought was going to happen to Pools... we may have got close to being in the Championship, but even if we'd made it we knew we would never be likely to do more than visit for a season or two!

90 minutes away at cardiff and a couple of seasons in the later 50,s. apart from that pools and darlo have one thing in common, a struggle.

I would argue that Pools and Darlo have everything in common historically.

Incidentally, don’t assume that the 100k goes into Challinor’s budget. A fair chunk of goes to Sage. This is the reason I argued that without a very rich sugar daddy a Phoenix club would be better in the long term.

Don’t forget though, they were a slowly sinking ship then, then eventually went so far down the leagues only the football sea bed stopped them.

They are us, with a different postcode.

Exacto. Had any of us or any of the loids been born the other end of the A66 we/they would be Darlo/Pools supporters.

And your attacking forward play is sometimes quite precocious.

I'm not sure about this working as a motivational anthem but...

"The game of football is hard to play,
We're gonna lose it anyway,
The losing card Pools usually lay,
So this is all I have to say
Suicide passes are painless,
But they bring on managerial changes,
And I can sign a replacement, probably with bad knees."

Imagine musical numbers being performed on the terraces. If nothing else it might put the braindead hooligans and racists off attending.

Gim-Gim-Gime, Gim-Gim-Gime, Gime-Toure,
A forward as tricky,
as tricky can be.

Obviously Mutley on the roof singing that one.
