Rumours flying about tonight about him being tracked by Luton and others, £500,000 mentioned, worth much more in my book. Very ordinary players going for millions these days

He's so good we should show some backbone, think long term, and insist on going lower. 45k or less, maybe even lend him to them and then be gratefull for whatever they offer?

We are not as naïve financially as we used to be. We will bung them twenty grand to take him and save on his wages. Reduce admin costs by shredding his contract and deny he ever had one.

Only lowra it requires is 50k to Coxhall's consultant.

and come out with a statement that the club does not want to stand in the way of the players future to make us feel really warm hearted to the club and its values.

Maybe this sets the benchmark:

"Peterborough have signed midfielder Jack Taylor from National League club Barnet for an initial fee of £500,000. League One Posh could end up paying £1m for the 21-year-old, who made 127 appearances for Barnet."

It’s got nothing to do with Pam has it? She was no more than an employee of the owner John Blackledge, surely it’s his direction any percentages of transfer fees would be heading in the direction of?

It’s amazing that he owned Pools, if I saw him in the street I would be none the wiser no idea what he even looks like!

After 10 minutes in last seasons friendly with Sunderland I said at the time we would sell him for an awful lot of money. For me, I don’t think there is a better full/wing back in vanerama, league 2 or even league 1, IF there is any truth in this rumour of 500,000 snots, its a giveaway as reported in this mornings paper Everton are closing in on carlisles 17 year old defender Branthwaite for 800,000

Sounds like adios. I reckon he'll go on to play at quite a high level. Best of luck to him.

I have no comment to make on individual playes worth at pools but surely it's only common sense that a player in the football league would be deemed to be worth more than a player playing for the most average team in the top division of the non league.

This has been a comedy topic at pools for decades. Pools fans always rate the saleability of the players far higher than anyone else seemed to.

It is also worth pointing out that if a club offers a fee for any player that will take that player to a higher level a club than pools current level pools would find it hard to hold onto that player and use him as a bargaining chip.

Contracts are worthless at this level and any player with any ambition would have their head turned by any one of the 92 clubs currently in the football league, bar maybe 2.

Peter Kioso was brave enough to uproot himself and move to another part of the country just for a trial at the age of 18. He has never given less than 100% and although he can improve defensively especially in his positioning his attacking runs will be sorely missed.I spoke to him after a game last season and he came across very level headed guy. He would not have signed again come the end of the season with no doubt a lot of offers from league clubs on the table and Pools getting nothing so things have worked well from both sides. It just proves there are hidden jems lower down the leagues and the club should keep their eyes open to players like Carl Roberts at Blyth who joined Notts county after scoring 17 goals in 25 games for a club at the bottom of the league.
Well done Peter and good luck in your career.

Begs the question, who has let the contract of one of our best young players reach the final 6 months? And if we are hearing Kabamba and Kioso only have 6 months of their contract left, then how long is left on Molyneux and Hawkes' contracts?

Loughlin guesswork. We will probably never know which is good as neither will agents of players we need to sign.

Well I will be sorry to see him go. Always comes across as a confident guy & never gives less than 100%, even when he's made a rick { & there have been a few }.Not sure we have a ready made replacement - assuming Donaldson or Holohan will fill in till we get something more permanent. Hope we get more than £100K, mind .

Essex Poole makes out that we don’t keep our eyes out for players like Roberts. Of course we do and our mangers and scouts cover the local non leagues all the time. Remember Kioso, Muir, Karamba all come from non league but getting part time footballers to give up jobs plus their football money to come to teams like Hartlepool and give up security is very difficult.
As far as Roberts goes, I have never seen him, but if he is that good why is it the only club to sign him is Notts County a team in our league. Don’t forget he has been to other clubs on loan he may well come off that’s the gamble you take at this level.

I think the next few signings will indicate whether we are serious about trying to get out of this league or not. We are still somehow in with a shout of finishing in the playoffs. Losing Kioso is a blow but if the money is spent wisely then it could strengthen our push for the top 7. However, if not, I think that would indicate how things are going to be for the foreseeable and how Raj is feeling.

Good luck Peter, we picked up an unknown 17 year old from non league and gave him a 1 year contract with an option of another year. Perfectly acceptable. Offered him an improved contract at end of first year which was turned down so we took up the option and further offers were also turned down.

Sounds like no fault can be apportioned to the club to me at all.

Wish him well, has all the tools to make it in the Championship although I presume he will be in League 1 next year.

OS : His excellent form led to him being offered a new deal on enhanced terms during the summer which was turned down, before the Club subsequently exercised the option year in his original contract.
Further offers were made to him during the course of the current campaign which were all also turned down and it became clear that he wished to explore alternatives.

Guess that answers that question. He wasn't going to stay.

I have no problem at all with players moving on and bettering themselves but I'm disappointed he didn't sign for at least another year allowing the club to make more money. Obviously I don't know the fee but it wont have been big when his deal was coming to an end. His agent will have been in his ear no doubt.

Why would he do that? If the fee was more then he might be priced out of a move.

Well according to the club he has turned deals down offered to him since the summer, long before this move has come about.

Load of shit, we've both earned a great deal out his time at Pools and Kioso owes Pools nothing.

Oh sorry, how dare I have an opinion! I see a lad leave barnet for 500k rising 1m and our best player probably leaves for 100k. We always get stiffed on fees one way or another.

He wasn’t out of contract in four months though, it’s frustrating but you have to be realistic. I can’t feel bitter and twisted about this he’s a great lad who owes us nothing, his attitude and commitment since he arrived has been first class. I hope he goes a long way in the game he has every chance.

Terrible news about Peter Kioso going as he develops cult status at Pools. What a week eh? Nicky Kabamba and now Peter K and has anybody noticed how Darlo are moving in the right direction and in the play offs as I speak. It couldn't happen could it? Be interesting to see how the ones who gloated over our rivals demise react if we meet on the same level. Honest lad Peter and always tried hard. I can see him as an out and out winger in future. He leaves with my blessing and thanks. Shall watch his career with interest.

It's more frustration for the club,I know we got him for nothing but for me in today's market he is surely worth more than 100k! Always thought we would get a good amount for kioso. I would never knock his commitment, some games he looked the only player giving 100% so good luck to him.

The thing that also annoys me is that we have given away 3 players for £100,000. Peter can and has played exceptionally well as a centre back and either side full/wing back.

That 100k thing is NOT a fact. Its a guess. But what is clear is that it's the best decision for the club and for the player.

We could have been caught out like with Donnelly and Carson both refused new contracts and left for nothing.
Just think how some of the big clubs feel when players worth millions just let their contracts run down and leave for nothing sadly that’s part of football since Bodmin.

Didnt realise Carson has sat on bench all season and not played a single minute.

It's been difficult for Carson to get back into the team after his time out, as Gillespie has been in great form in goals and Motherwell's manager doesn't really have a reason to drop him. Good problem to have for them.
