Just wondering, I’m sure there will have been lots of interest as per usual.

If you had to have one of these who would you go for & why? Limited my list to anybody not under contract anywhere else, can’t imagine we’d pay compo to bring someone else in somehow.

Dave Challinor.

Anthony Sweeney.

Neil Redfern.

Ben Clark.

Phil Brown.

Neil Aspin.

Surprised Lee Bradbury hasn't been brought up again. If I recall correctly the only reason we didn't end up with him was due to Havant wanting a fee Pools couldn't agree on. Now he's unemployed after getting sacked from Eastbourne Borough, which really wasn't his fault considering that club are financially struggling. If I had a choice of the above, probably Challinor.

Fuck me, Phil Brown?

If that really was our choice, I’d go for Sweeney

You can’t help but be impressed with Sweeney.

He sounds like manager when he talks, he’s articulate and very clear. Tactically as well he’s doing well, today it sounded like we had a real game plan that worked.

I never thought I would be saying this but I’d like to see him get the job. I would bring in an experienced consultant/director of football type maybe only as a part time role as well. Someone like Ronnie Moore with an eye for a player and good contacts and understanding of how to use the loan market well.

Wonder if Darrell Clarke close to the sack. 5 losses in a row and been laying into his players.

Clarke manager and Sweeney assistant?

You could see them working well together purely as characters I wouldn’t be against that shout at all. Two players who played big roles when we were a successful club what’s not to like? What Sweens is doing is making sure we don’t have to rush the process.

Pallisters sat up with Raj each week, he , Hignett and Bernie Slaven we’re running the reds football academy a couple of years back. Not sure if it’s still going or not?

[quote="phil"]I'm running out of reasons not to give it to Sweeney like. Great performance today.

my only doubt is that he could be another bates. fine as a caretaker but when they get the job full time they go off the boil.

Sweeney comes across as articulate, composed and with his head screwed on. At first I thought ‘Oh no’ but now I say why not.
As for the compulsory list of the ‘usual suspect’, no thanks.

It appears Fylde have poached Jim Bentley

They are all over that 28% win rate.

488 points in 434 games at Morecambe 52 points a season on average which is about the top end of what you need to stay up, he’s continually scraped that. He’d have been sacked as Pools manager over those 434 games at a conservative estimate, 68 times.

I just watched the Sween's post-match interview. He doesn't bullshit does he. He no speaka managerese.

The truth is every manager is a gamble, even if they look like a nailed on good'un.
Pools of all clubs should know this.
Sweeney is giving us a free trial.

You don't choose managers on Amazon.com.

Anthony Sweeney is doing an excellent job for us, and after reading the programme notes from the Barnet game, Raj and Mark Maguire have been impressed by his and Ians commitment to club.
While having their workload doubled, and progression in the Cup competitions FA Cup Youth FA Cup and Durham Challenge Cup.

Sweeney certainly wants what's best for the club, and if he is given the chance I really hope it works for all of us.

I must also add that the programme on match days is excellent, usually I buy one on the 1st home game, Christmas/ New Year, and the last home game of the season..however this year I have got one at every game.

just hope pools do not rush into an easy appointment with sweeney though. things might be looking upwards the last few weeks but i just want to see what happens after we loose a game. will he panic or what. like supporting a club its easy when you are winning. if he did come out of a couple of defeats and gets the side back on track then for me the job is for him.

Yes of course... Here is the story, Mrs dno fancied a Coke from the kiosk, as it was a hot day, I warned her to make sure it was cold before buying said refreshment.
Ten mins later come back no Coke, and this is why.

The coke was not cold as the fridge was off, it gets better... but she, the "kiosk lady" had put some in the fridge????

I said she might as well have put them on the ground it would have been colder.

I then said to those that were listing to this tale, they should have put the pies in the fridge to warm up.

If Kennedy was still doing his work experience in between his GCSE’s then I would agree Phil but the new bloke at the Mail seems decent, plus the Echo are saying the same which would suggest he’s in the frame.

Worse choices than challinor around, let's hope Danny Rowe fancies joining him. One thing I will mention, I'm sure he had a falling out with Toure and that's why he left fylde for sutton last season. Hopefully that can be forgotten about should he get the job.

Just give Sweeney the job. Why waste weeks settling in a new manager and then find another season wasted. We appear to have a momentum going for us, let’s ride that horse.

I reckon Challinor's got the job he was at the game today, Mark Simpson even mentioned he was and Dominic Scurr has Tweeted that it could be Sweeney's last game in charge today.

I wonder if he can still do those throw ins!?

You've got to give him a chance his record is excellent, yeah he had a decent budget but I remember one of our early non league games when Fylde absolutely played us off the park at the Vic, playing decent football as well. Last year he won the FA Trophy and lost the play off final. He has three promotions on his CV, and being based in the North West will have a good pool of contacts. He probably has a better record than anyone else who was in for the job at the end of the day.

He has a 50% + win ratio at both clubs he's managed.

I couldn't care less how his team play if he can bring regular wins to Pools.

Hignett's two spells in comparison were 29% and 34%.

Jurgen Klopp's ratio at Liverpool is 58% to give another comparison.

could do the same with pools if raj has a big enough cheque book. it will feel a bit weird for him though to manage a club with a fanbase worth talking about but one that isn,t that forgiving. its all a wait and see and hope he,ll do better than i expect.

Yes the programme is spot on well worth £3

hope you are right. good move for him as the worst thing that could happen would be to manage a team next season at the same level as he left. same for a player moving from our level to a struggling div.2 side.

Sweeney for me too, he comes across as knowing what he,s talking about and given a bit more time things could get even better. Challoner left Fylde in a worse position than we are in so i dont see him as being an improvement. Lets not panic and rush in to grab someone just because we wont have to pay any money out.

Sweeney an excellent communicator, intelligent and articulate.
Could we be seeing a future England manager?

So was Hignett not listening to Sweeney or was Sweeney not communicating to Hignett?

How did we start playing so well with the same players?

Sweeny, its a no-brainer.
Allthough he does have one or two things going against him.

1. He does not continually whinge about the match officals.
2. Does he bring into question fans understanding of tactics/Football
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And the Players actually have bought into his way of playing in such a short time, Which is astounding.

So i suppose hes got no chance, Almost forgot he actually sounds Genuine.
Thers also that old chestnut, Would you like him stood next to you in a fight, I Would.

I still found the clubs posts on facebook and twitter yesterday strange and almost out of character.

Picture of Sweeney with a love heart and 'this guy tho'. Almost as if the club were guaging opinion and inviting fans comments to make sure they wanted Sweeney etc.

Hope Raj listens to them.

This isn't the 1970s! The club should should obviously decide by putting pictures of the candidates on Facebook and then seeing who gets the most likes. Most Facebook users are very sensible, balanced and think long and hard before mouthing off so their opinions should count.

A personal email thanking everybody who gives an opinion would be a nice touch too.

Haha I know but it would seem odd for the club to one day post a picture of Sweeney with a love heart and then next day drop him back to training the kids?

Depends on whether Raj is a control freak about the club's social media. Might just have been the Senior Vice President for External Media responding to how the fans acknowledged Sweeney's commitment. Raj could have been having a friendly game of split the kipper to decide Challinor's budget at the same moment the pic was put up there.

Either way, Facebook should have the final say.

I don't think Dave C is going to happen, I think he's waiting to be interviewed by Morecambe, they are after all a league side and from his neck of the woods.

Wouldn't imagine being made to wait will go down to well, if he's not at the Vic tonight, we go again, on to the next one!
