Yes I get the message we do need to look after our planet but enough is enough with these arseholes now.

It’s hard to put into words how idiotic them disrupting the London Underground is. Firstly angering and alienating people simply trying to get to where they go to earn money in order to put food on the table is a spectacular own goal. Secondly and best of all, imagine attacking a public transport network that 3 million people a day use in one city? I imagine those figures make it massively environmentally friendly. I hope half of them drive to work or get a taxi tomorrow as a result with the rest firing up an Airbus A380 whilst spraying tins of Lynx into mid air.

I hope the ring leaders receive lengthy jail sentences and the rest are forced to have a good wash.

By the way do all of these quislings walk everywhere they go? Say when they are sourcing materials to make an outfit made of Broccoli? Or to some degree are they all massive fucking hypocrites with nothing better to do?

The A380 is pretty good as far as emissions go. Also excellent on noise. If they fired up some old Boeing 737s they'd do loads more damage. Just saying like.

Driving one on the North Circular isn’t good for emissions though.

Always looks like a very middle class movement to me, certainly has its roots in very affluent areas and the support of plenty of well-off pensioners. Don't let that stop you blaming the poorest people in society though.

I think I read somewhere that 17% of them are called Tarquin.

#FACT

Their is something joyous about watching an angry working class mob drag someone posh off the top of a tube train.

would imagine there is a good 17% called Jessica as well.

Man gets on tube train, gets pulled off and gets a kicking. Don't get in the way of grumpy Londoners!

Whilst I admire the cause I think in pissing off the working man they're achieving the opposite.

So what sort of huge kick up the arse do you suggest for the environmental laxists? If you think one isn't needed you're not doing your offspring any favours.
Extinction rebellion are using the Hong Kong demonstrations against China as their blueprint. They're new at the game so they're making one or two blunders, but if they're as innovative and methodical as Hong Kong they'll eventually get it right. That of course remains to be seen.

I'm all for making them fat cats aware of climate change, they are the ones at the very top who need to make the biggest changes.

Pissing off dudes and women going to work, taxi drivers, shop owners...

Not cool.

I think protesting the tube is a bit silly as well, it carries the most people for the lowest fuel outlay.

every person, even a far right one, has a right to protest if they feel strongly about an issue. there is however a time and a place to do such stuff and have to realize that not everyone will agree with em. seems always the same with protestors is that they are the only ones who are right.

If they want attention in this day and age the best way to do it is with cat videos. Surprised they didn't think of that.

Well you see Mr Accrington, the French are probably world champions when it comes to starting a protest movement based on disruption, and the thing is it seems to work. Maybe you have to have had a people's revolution for protests to have a chance of hitting home.

There was a spokesman for them on the radio banging the drum for 2025 for zero carbon.
When it was pointed out the use of gas as a fuel would have to cease, cars to become electric, flights reduced to a proposed one a year, meat would be history and a vegan diet. Really? Joke or wind up?
Are we entering a new Puritan age?

Not sure puritan is the right word but yes that's pretty much it. Did anybody seriously buy the idea that an expanding economy could go on forever?

We live in a world of excess where the purveyors and persuaders are selling shite we don’t need in one breath and parading along with some dim celeb to condemn the world we live in. The world they created.
Everyone in the world can’t have a 4x4 and a hot tub, but ploughing some money into cheaper, reliable public transport to get some of the cars off the road and a few more sacrifices, but never be a vegan.

The vegan bit might be a convoluted result of distribution short circuits. Sort of grow your own cabbages and put Eddie Stobart out of business.
That or they're asking for the earth, moon, and stars but will settle for the earth for now.

A tiny little Island between the North sea and Ireland is a mere drop in the ocean compared to the real culprits USA China and India. Most people in the UK do their bit these days yet I dont see Extinction Rebellion heading off over to China and disrupt Beijing. There is no context to these people. Are they trying to turn the UK into an Amish Community?

Just imagine, a few years down the line. No night games, them pesky floodlights for one game is the equivalent of strangling 2316 Polar Bears.
No rush for the first pint at half time as the new juice bars offering of pints of warm cabbage water which they claim actually tastes like, er, ....warm cabbage water has proved a flop.
The ‘food’ on offer, ‘badgers arse burger’, consists of lentils, wood chippings and newts phlegm in a yummy gluten free bun .
The players new strip will be made from recycled degradable paper coloured in by local juniour schools.
We probably won’t win anything, but no one will, as competition can be so upsetting...... bbolt

They've only been going 10 months. They just happened to start up in Britain so I'd say it's pretty normal for them to hone their skills there. Meanwhile quite a few countries are tagging on.

Nah man. The stand roofs will be covered with photovoltaic panels and Pools will be feeding surplus electricity to Hartlepool bus charging points.
Solutions are actually being produced addressing all the extinction issues; big business and govt just aren't in a big enough hurry to adopt them.

I agree a lot needs to be done but as said before what we do here means nothing but it’s good to try though. It’s the hypocrisy and lies that get me though like the bag for life con basically you have to use it for about ten years to get back the footprint of a single use bag. Why not just make them out of biodegradable plastic. Reason the cost too much. What gets me is the packaging on fruit etc which was brought in by the supermarkets I remember when I was little my mam going to fens shops to the fruiters and just getting it off the shelf.

People complaining that protests are disruptive are missing the point. No one would care if they just stood in Parliament Square shouting at the Palace of Westminster. But people are talking about it now.

However, by attacking working people on the tube they've scored a massive own goal. The tube is good for the environment. They should have blocked a road or something. Cars are bad and no one can afford to drive in London.

As a young person I'm very concerned about the state of the environment. However, I'm also lazy and hypocritical. If Extinction Rebellion forces me, the government and big businesses to take responsibility for our actions before the World sets on fire then that's good.

Anyone thinking this is about unemployed middle-class kids wanting us to eat woodchip burgers is wrong.

Most people care, what the fuck is blocking a road in a country that produces less than 1% of the Worlds global emissions going to achieve? They have caused disruption for weeks enough is enough now. It’s delusional to think we can make a big difference here when we are already awake to the issue. The US are up there and the manchild they have in charge doesn’t give a single fuck about the environment go there and cause chaos then see how you get on. The Worlds Population at the end of the day is out of control, again good luck extinction rebellion on your visits to China and India.

Had a lecturer in college in 1971 who reassured us the planet wouldn’t survive until 1980. Oh dear

whats their excuse for the end of the dynasaurs. the world will keep on changing with or without any government intervention or any climate change pressure group. its a fact that grape vines were grown around hadrians wall. that is just a short time ago when you look at the age of the earth. one day the earth may die and will change dramatically before it does.

Sadly the A380 is history, nobody wants them apparently and users are flogging them. Just weld the A380 engines onto those old 737’s, problem solved.

Nobody really knows what the cave men were up to they were crap at documenting history for all we know they could have been pissing about in Boeing 747’s and other terrible acts such as eating meat. I mean the man and dinosaurs pretty much overlapped give or take 65 million years.

I'm not sure whether selecting Canning Town station was a bright idea as it is right in the heart of the old East London docklands. Far safer, I would have thought, to have picked an alternative site. Unless, of course, they were prepared to be on the receiving end of a slap or two to heighten publicity.

Akin to walking into Millwall in the "good (?) ol' days" and shouting for the opposition.
