It'll be the same in the General Election. I said some weeks ago that the Brexit party will win the seat because the town was so overwhelmingly leave. Obviously the leavers on here dismissed it but I'm convinced it will happen.

So people have stood as independents in the council elections and now they have switched to the Brexit party after getting in? That’s surely going to piss a lot of people off who voted for them as independents?

So it’s surely going to have the opposite effect come the General Election as they have essentially misled people?

I honestly think though Farage will stand in somewhere like Hartlepool, which could be seriously embarrassing for the Town as he would probably get in. I mean if Boris Johnson thinks you aren’t a ‘fit and proper person’ for Government you are struggling.

Everything is shit at the minute.

I get the impression that in a lot of northern seats many people who voted Brexit Party did that because they wanted to leave the EU but weren't prepared to vote Tory. Letting everybody know that they're effectively the same as each other could backfire on both. It exposes the idea that Farage is somehow anti-establishment because he'll do a deal with the establishment and it exposes the fact that Johnson's clique are way to the right of what might be called normal Toryism. The blinkered hard core support of both won't shift but a non-aggression pact headed by a pair of liars hell bent on extreme solutions might not prove easy to sell to the wider public.

On a national level, the strangest thing about all this is that, when you combine it with the LibDems' desperation to style themselves as a pure remain party in the hope that voters will forget their love in-with Cameron, Corbyn's Labour are emerging as being sat right on the middle ground.

Locally they all just look like a bunch of principle-free bell ends who will team up with anybody to get control of the Council. It's almost as if they've looked at the previous incumbents and realised that you can do very well out of it.

Was he ever in the Labour Party? Seems odd if he didn't try it given the, erm, 'benefits' that used to be available to Labour councillors.

I suspect that Nigel Farage is nailed on to be Hartlepool's MP.

I was hoping he'd be nailed on something but it wasn't that.

What will happen though if Brexit is "delivered" before the council elections in June 2020.
Will they morph into something else?

I also thought they were gearing up to unleash Uncle Ken's awesome communication skills. Mind you, Nige did a get a great welcome from the town on his heroic march/car journey to Westminster. He liked it so much he stopped marching/getting a lift after that and just popped in central London a couple of weeks later.

I’m sure he’d stand aside for the main man. Ken can be mayor with Chris Turner involved in some capacity as I get the inkling from his Twitter feed that he’s a leaver, I could wrong though he rarely mentions it.

You also told us that Dominic Cummings is a genius and a con brexit alliance was assured, forgive us if we are sceptical of what you say.

Poor response Mr I. Not as feeble as Boris' claiming a fucking bridge will solve the issues around the Irish border but below your usual standard.

I like the bit where Corbyn's Labour are sat on the middle ground.

I have been wondering where the fence was.

I find it just as bizarre as you do Mr Derwent but with Boris disappearing over the horizon rightwards and the LibDems becoming a single issue party there's only Corbyn's bit of Labour and the purged Tories saying, wouldn't a decent deal be the best compromise? Add in the idea that there are lots of other important issues to address too and you've got a position that sounds pretty centrist and sane compared to everybody else!

He'll probably be alarmed at the idea but politics has got so strange that his fence posts are sunk nice and deep into what has become the middle ground.

I imagine it'll at least outsell Michael Owen's new book.

Angie Wilcox, ex Labour Councillor, 54, of Minch Road, Hartlepool, admitted 14 charges of fraud, and single charges of furnishing false information for an audit by Hartlepool Borough Council, and falsifying bank statements.
She also admitted making three false personal loan applications to Buddy Loans.2 Councillors were associated with the Manor Residents Association but denied they were, she took the wrap I believe, we are talking hundreds of thousands of Hartlepool Council Tax payers money here.
.
A mayor has been sacked from his job at the council after he was given paid leave to attend a funeral - but visited a warship instead. Stephen Akers-Belcher said he needed time off for compassionate reasons - but was pictured the same day aboard HMS Warrior..

Why does it tickle you? I said the same months ago. Farage has tried and failed 7 times to get into parliament if he wants any chance of that not ending up 8 even someone as painfully stupid as you can see that it would make sense for him to stand somewhere that voted heavily in favour of Brexit so that points to somewhere like Hartlepool. It ticks all the
boxes for him, other places obviously do as well but they don’t quite have the added disillusionment that Hartlepool has had at council level.

Ideally he needs to find a town wick with moronic gullible racists like yourself thankfully nowhere quite exists like that yet we generally get a few of your kind everywhere.

I don't think you'll find anyone on here making apologies for fiddlers, no matter what their background.

It is interesting that when another EDL/Britain First type gets caught grooming and there's no outrage.

Apparently the bogs near the council "chamber" had a sign put up saying it was just for councillors not council workers......it was quickly removed after it was reported on Artlepool TV.

Whoever it was doesnt like to "piss in the same pot" as the council officers.

Wonder who instructed it to be put up sctatchinghead
