Craig Hignett is worried that Pools aren't putting enough of their chances away, but Hartlepool Women have score 19, conceded 1 in their first two competitive matches of the season.

Maybe if he arranges a joint shooting practice the lasses could pass on a few tips?

(Their sponsor logo looks smarter on the new strip an all https://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/pool ... past-york/ )

Without wanting to be unkind I’ve just laughed out loud at some of the goals, the lass in goal for York doesn’t look a natural it’s fair to say! I felt a bit bad when I found out she’s actually called Janet Leigh Barrett-Budtz. Poor girl never had a chance in the game.

There's a couple of comedy gold moments from her but some good finishes from Pools Women as well. They got at least 9 shots on target, which to be fair is more that the men managed against Woking.

I was away at the weekend so watched the whole game on catch up last night. From the zen-like perspective of knowing the result in advance, got to say that the BT commentary was more balanced than I expected - a newly promoted, part-time team at the top of the division was always going to be the story of the night unless Pools trounced them. The commentators acknowledged that Pools had made and missed enough good chances to make the game safe before Woking equalised.

The other thing they were fair to highlight was that Ben Killip's indecision with corners and crosses was something that Woking were very much aware of and tried to exploit. He's a great shot stopper, just like Scott Loach, but no better at commanding his area than Loach was. Ross Turnbull still has loads more work to do on that aspect of Killip's game.

nowt wrong with lasses playing football and good luck to em. its just all the media hype about woments football that gets me. you,d think it was just a new invention or sexual equality being pushed down our throats again.

The coverage is probably slightly disproportionate to the standard but at the same time you aren’t forced to watch it so I don’t really see that’s rammed down your throat you have plenty of choice on what you watch these days. Watch something else if it’s not for you.

I enjoyed a few games in the World Cup during the summer and watched plenty of good players.

I really don’t get the issue with female pundits either. Anyone can talk about Football it’s not brain surgery just a daft game at the end of the day. Someone like Alex Scott is far more qualified to talk about the game than all of us having played at the top of her profession and I’d much rather watch her than someone like Jamie Carragher who every time I see now I have an image of him gobbing from a car in my head.

I watched the highlights and didn't get the impression of biased commentary either. I still think Virgo is a twat mind. Surely there's better out there.

And the truth shall set you free...

I find it somewhat ironic our "golden generation" find it appropriate to comment on international matches, considering internationally they were nowhere close to success stories. All while their female counterparts hacked away with half the recognition and money (granted they also had a poor 2000s). They also didn't make an autobiography every week!

Hope Durham City get promoted back into the WSL soon.
