We'll have to Wok hard to win this. But I think it's possible, 3-2 win for us.

Will get my van's new exhaust sorted in time for the second half of the England match. Will decide to have a beer. Things will escalate a bit due to excitement of seeing Pools and my memory of the second half will be sketchy. 2-2 Only 13 Woke fans present, 3020 Poolies with mixed politics.

Presuming Donaldson is further forward again like he was on Tuesday then Corals offer at 100/1 for Donaldson to score 2 or more is very nice. Toure in comparison is 17/2.

Why do I get the impression that Adam Virgo is always supporting the other team when we are on BT? I wouldn’t be surprised if he had a fucking Woking top on in the commentary box tonight, I thought he was going to start crying about the penalty decision.

We really should have won that game I thought we controlled the second half and missed good chances.

Plenty to be positive about the performance though the back five were all good Kioso looks great at right wing back. They didn’t look like breaking us down it took a very good goal. Unbeaten in 5 and I reckon better is to come from us.

Funny as fuck that even the Woking lad who scored said we created the better chances first half and shaded it in the face of the BT agenda!!

Loads of shots over the bar and loads of chances, could have won that.
Good game.

Nice to watch Pools playing football again this season with footballers, something which we haven't been able to say for quite a number of seasons (I appreciate the level we are playing at but enjoyable to watch again).

Virgo is a Knob.

If you bring your hands up together over your shoulder and the ball hits them and changes direction and pace even though you have shrugged slightly away.... its a bloody penalty.

I enjoyed that. Two teams trying to play football with lots of chances created. Got to say, their 'offside' goal should have stood. And the penna, I can see why it was given (the ref had a split second decision to make), but it was harsh. Makes a change us getting the benefit of poor decisions. Matuta looks like a beast of a player!

Give me that sort of football against previous seasons where we try and keep it tight and nick it.

What a Woking love in that was, jeez, are they the Liverpool of the national league?

Probably a fair result, we really should have killed them off before they equalised though.

2 points dropped unfortunately, not sure why Hignett didn’t bring James on for last 15 it was fairly obvious from the beginning their defence were scared of a bit of pace

Gotta feel all other clubs watching that will just hammer crosses into our 6 yard box knowing Killip wont come for it.

Enjoyed it tho, good game of football.

Good match, could have gone either way but we certainly deserved a draw. Toure looks like a proper footballer.

If kitching could sink some of his chances we could be up near the top tonight. He could have scored 3 tonight. He needs some serious shooting practice.

Even though we have only won one home game out of five ( which i missed because of holidays) and even though I've been to five games out of the ten we've played so far, none of which we won, I feel a tremendous excitement in our progress towards becoming a football league club once more.
We are playing fantastic football, especially at home, and each set back is the fault of abysmal refereeing and extraordinary bad luck.
It is only a matter of time before we, once again, grace the first division of the football league.
Another Cardiff like day is beckoning as it is only a matter of time.
It is so wonderful to be a Poolie at such an exciting time.

We created enuf chances to win 2 games.
Still plenty to be positive about a good performance that deserved 3 points.
.As for the BT commentary team n pundits a total embarresment to there profession in how much they hate Pools. Supposed to be neutral aren't they!
Will watch the Stockport game with no sound on. :angry-tappingfoot:

Right at the start of the game when the line ups were being shown Virgo said something like ‘I really hope Woking can show us why they have started so well’ He wasn’t even close to impartial. At half time if you hadn’t seen the game you’d have thought that we’d have been played off the park and got a penalty on the only occasion we’d been in Wokings box. They were committed hard working team you can see why they have been so competitive but we created the chances and played the better football. Woking put in some good balls but we dealt with them and pretty much relied on set pieces.

They got lucky with a flukey wondergoal, not us. BT's National League punditry in general is canker but tonight's was woeful. We were head and shoulders better, Kennedy looked good going forward, Killip made great saves, Toure never stopped running.

Killip had a shaky start but nothing that cost us. Start of both halves Pools played some excellent football and no one had a bad game. If we could be more clinical going forward BT sport will be a thing of the past.

The coverage was embarrassing. A clique of Home Counties pundits showing themselves up. If a Woking player had turned like Toure did in their box and left their two defenders skidding on their arses towards the Town End wall they, the Woking Appreciation Society aka The BT team would have been in pig heaven!

Woking have the lowest budget in the league and even walked from the train station, so fair play to them for getting where they are, their manager has done a great job. Having said that I was disappointed we never got the win, although we created a lot of chances I would have liked to have seen us put their two ungainly centre halves under more pressure. The second half looked like an ideal situation for Luke James to come on and make a nuisance of himself, their defence didn't look too confident when they were attacked on the deck. Maybe James wasn't 100% fit and Hignett didn't want to risk him?

I advocate getting Shuggy back just to demonstrate how to strike a football with venom and accuracy.

Regarding the ‘lucky’ comments from the Woking appreciation society, I think if they looked at and counted the goal attempts for both sides they may keep their biased traps shut

I reckon Killip made one actual save in the match low down to his left to push clear after the equaliser. They didn’t get behind us once in the match, they did put over some decent crosses and caused one or two problems from set pieces. Second half they had done or created nothing until a run of three corners which brought the goal. They were committed, scrapped for every ball put their bodies on the line, you can see why they are on a good run in that sense but it was a disappointing point, we were the better team with more quality. We have to win games when we create that many chances.

BT didn’t mention the three or four good saves the Woking keeper made (he was MOTM for them by my reckoning) we had four one of ones were he got his angles right and made good saves. We should have won the game twice after the leveler.

PJ, on goals scored Woking won. I think the fact they had a perfectly good goal disallowed is why Pools were lucky in their view.
You don't ever get goals awarded when you blast the ball over the bar. They were lucky we didn't finish our chances and we were lucky that officials at this level are terrible.

They scored as many goals as us the last time I checked.

We hit the target plenty, a couple of goal-line clearances and three or four good saves from the keeper. Kennedy neatly scored a brilliant goal, Donaldson flashed one just wide. We need to be more clinical but it’s not as if we were smashing everything over the bar. On another say we’d have been two up after ten minutes.

The linesman flagged for another player offside at the time of the incident interfering with play, the two other two players came in behind him.

The goal should have stood but if you went through every incident the officials get wrong at this level you’d not have time to do anything else they are woeful in general, yeah we got the rub of the green with one decision but I wouldn’t say we were lucky in the game we were the better team, second half especially (we created the better openings first half as well) If we’d have gone one down I’m sure we’d have still come away with something. We were the better team against Fylde when they were allowed about as ridiculous a goal as you’ll ever see which was a blatant foul then clear offside.

I am a believer offside should be offside though, that makes is easier for the linesmen and simplify’s the law. The Centre Forward was deemed not to interfering with play because he didn’t head it, he’s still stood offside 8 yards from and in the centre of goal. Surely he’s influencing the goalkeepers position and the defenders shape so he is involved in the phase of play in my book, but that’s another conversation as the law stands it should have stood.

the offside law is a joke because no one and that includes officials actually understand it 100 per cent. every situation is different if only slightly where a goal is given or chalked off for offside. it was brought in to favour attacking but hasn,t really given us more goals and with VAR its given more controvertial decisions. just got to get on with it and then tackling with excessive force is another load of balls. modern day football, i give up at times.

Watching the full highlights id forgotten how many great opportunites we had, Toure through twice, Donaldson got through, Noble one off the line, Toures 6 yarder that Kennedy blocked (looked like it was going wide) , Kioso got through and Kennedys shot from the edge of the box looks like it was inches past the post.

Scary how rapid Toure is.

Their keeper looked very decent, no wonder they dont concede many.

That's a fair point.

I've always been on the ''not interfering with play'' side of the argument as a football spectator - but your point about defensive shape and goalie positioning is actually very valid when you think about it.

I played in goal from the infant school until I gave-up playing amateur football after my first marriage.

And if I think back, if there's three blokes coming at me and one of them is off-side, from my perspective I had no guaranteed way of knowing that. But as a 'keeper, I had to make an instant judgement call in those situations. The off-side bloke might well have been where I placed that bet.

No wonder I let so many in over the years...
