Snake Oil Salesman

Renamed in memory of John Hawksworth, a stalwart member who passed this day 2nd August 2020. RIP Mr Monkeybutt.

Sadly we must add the name of Kevin Minton, Aka Mr Ripper who passed 30/6/22. Kev was also Mr politically incorrect but a nicer lad you could never meet.

Breaking the two party system, yup, couldn't agree more, Mr I. Give us a referendum on "'Break the two party system" and I'll be the first to sign.

I'm still a bit curious as to which of Nigel's policies swayed you. Education? Health care? Pensions? The destigmatisation of pint drinking?

John David Edward Tennant

On 2nd May "Independent Union" Councillor for Jesmond ward.
On 23rd May elected Brexit Party MEP for the North East.

On the councils website his declaration of interest show him as Office Manager to Jonathan Arnott UKIP MEP (ex)

A charlatan who backs whichever horse will get him into power?

Hartlepool may have thought it had purged itself of some dodgy councillors but when you start looking at some of these "Independents" it looks even worse.

Jesus I know of him he turned up at the c ricket club a few years ago and played a couple of games for the third team. His cricketing skills aside (one of the worst I have ever seen) he was an absolute oddball, a loner with zero human interaction skills, the type you’d imagine the authorities would be wise to give his hard drive a good going over. He’s senior in Brexit Party and close to Farage!!!? Holy shit. That story mentions a wife, I would be fairly amazed he’s ever spoken to a female never mind had a wife.

And another......... Tom Cassidy "Independent" also works(ed) for Jonathan Arnott ex UKIP MEP as Graphic design /media.

Shane Moore "Independent" and Leader of Council is a member of the Bow Group (think tank promoting Conservative opinion internationally). His occupation is a trader in cryptocurrencies.

There are several other new Independents who have not yet declared their Register of Interests which might be a good read.

Would the voters have elected these people if they knew this?

You’d have thought people in the US have some sort of veiled interest or something here with money aiding the rise of the far right in the UK. I keep seeing the privatisation of the NHS mentioned, it’s something Farage has being championing for a while. You’d have though his meal ticket Aaron Banks business was insurance or something.....

You are being played for an absolute mug be people who are only manipulating you to serve themselves. It’s frightening it really is, I shudder at the prospect of no deal and the country failing into the hands of these people. The likes of Farage are only front of house here.

The reaction to Trumps visit is ridiculous. Whatever you think of him he’s America’s head of state and they are biggest and most important ally. Plus a big part of his visit is to commemorate to D Day landings, one million Americans potentially gave up their to lives to fight with us in World War Two, that above all else should be respected.

Just have to hope he doesn't start with his pussy grabbing. With all those royals about it could cause a diplomatic incident and then we'd be fucked for chlorinated chicken after Brexit.

For me, both are consent issues.

As long as the chicken and any processed food containing it has a label saying, "This meat has been washed in chlorine like they used to use at the baths" I'm ok with it. People should only eat it if they understand what is involved and choose to go ahead. Same for the pussy grabbing, all fine if the pussys' owners are keen on the idea. Something about the word grabbing that makes me think that ensuring that the women being grabbed were willing and comfortable with it wasn't foremost on Donald's mind.

It’s not an argument it’s a main reason he’s in the UK. The American head of state should be at a service to commemorate the D Day Landings if planned protests go ahead at such an occasion it’s completely inappropriate and disrespectful in my eyes. It’s not about respecting Trump it’s about respecting the occasion surely?

I’m not sure what is wrong about saying that to be honest.

I think he may have started last night at the state banquet, I noticed he was sitting between Liz and Charlie’s missus who were both squirming in their seats. Charlie at the other side of Liz and Phil away playing bingo, Trump will have thought Jackpot!!!!

Look at the fucking state of this, what is happening in our country?

https://twitter.com/i/status/1135910079889399808

Absolutely insane stuff, that women shouting Nazi scum looks deranged, almost rabid.

Do these people not realise that this type of thing is playing into the hands of those pulling the strings here? This type of lunacy is only going to further entrench of those leading the country towards a certain direction right now. It's vile behaviour, these people are labelled 'lefties' but what they are doing is actually the opposite of that.
People need to wake up to what is really happening here screaming in people’s faces an inciting violence isn't going to help achieve that, as isn't Corbyn addressing these nutters.

What people should be protesting for and demanding is a general election. We have a government that have just recorded a 9% share of a vote in a national election, that have just recorded some of the biggest ever defeats in votes in the commons who without the support of the DUP don't even really have a majority anyway. The concern is what is opposition, Corbyn needs to go for the Labour party not to be ahead in the polls in this current climate in opposition to the worst, most disastrous sitting government in living memory is almost unbelievable and highlights how unelectable he is.

But surely the Brexit party would unravel during a general election campaign? They are bag mixture of characters only really aligned on one issue. I doubt they would be able to stick with those pulling Farage’s strings (and lining his pockets) actual agenda as many who voted for them at the European Elections wouldn’t under scrutiny.

Been saying this for months but it won't happen. The House of Commons is packed with career politicians who don't want to risk falling off the gravy train till they absolutely have to. Look at the gang of 6 who just jumped ship again, deserting the party they set up a few months ago so they can join the Lib Dems. All Chuka, Heidi and Co. care about is a half decent chance to be re-elected in 2022! They don't give a flying fuck what their constituents think in the mean time.

The fixed term parliament act is brilliant for careerist MPs. It used to be that a minority government could be brought down by a majority of one against it. Now it takes a two-thirds majority in the House of Commons, which is impossible to achieve when most MPs just want to sit tight whatever state the country gets itself into.

Add to that the fact that the House of Lords now has so many members that it's the second biggest legislative body in the world - despite the UK being only the 22nd largest country in terms of population. What a complete joke.

Where's Guy Fawkes when you need him?

Terrifying.

It’s fantastic that Johnson’s team think the best way to get him into number ten is to keep him away from awkward questions or actually speaking because they know the damage he can cause himself by opening his mouth. Some brilliant stuff has been dredged up in recent weeks, no better than this that encapsulates the hypocrisy of the man and how seriously anything he says or writes should be taken;

Well done "dodgy" Dave (Cameron) for plunging this country into this chaos to allow the emergence of the likes of Boris Johnson to possibly govern this country.
When you see the TUC and CBI standing shoulder to shoulder on trying to prevent a hard Brexit you just know that the wishes of many of the Conservative candidates are against the best interests of the British people and British based companies.

Fans of Carole Kirkwood should all pause for a moment to mourn the elimination of Esther McVey from the Tory leadership race.

Possibly an even bigger chancer than Boris, but not afraid to outgun Martine McCutcheon at the height of her fame:
