Barrow finger in the air game!

Renamed in memory of John Hawksworth, a stalwart member who passed this day 2nd August 2020. RIP Mr Monkeybutt.

Sadly we must add the name of Kevin Minton, Aka Mr Ripper who passed 30/6/22. Kev was also Mr politically incorrect but a nicer lad you could never meet.

Barrow 3 - Pools 3 Hugill 2, Duckworth.

More fun in the sun in Cumbria and a good time had by all. Only 1 member of the entire squad for the Carlisle game in 2015 is still with Pools - no prizes for guessing who that is.

Absolute shambles that, big two centre halves were bloody awful, can't read the game, they could have had 8.
Donaldson is not a captain or a decent player, sick as a chip with that display and Hignett needs to look at himself after that.

I thought Featherstone and Donaldson were woeful, god help us if those two are in the midfield next year. Only Loach saved us from an embarrassing score line.

I have seen the performance described in some quarters as the worst of the season which is massively disappointing when we took such brilliant support. Our fans deserve better, much better. You would have thought if we had anything about us we would have wanted to put on a performance for that support.

Yes the fixture was about as end of season as you could get in terms of League positions but it’s a worry that Barrow seemed more spurred on by a bigger than usual crowd for them than us. It highlights for me a mental weakness that’s been apparent in the club for a long time, some of the mainstays that are capable of being decent players at times really need to go because the days they go missing are far too often and always have been. We need a toughness and a leadership through the team that is missing. Hopefully a day like today might be actually better in the long run as it’s not papering over the many cracks that still mean we are some way off competing we the right end of the table. An important summer lies ahead.

Hignett sounded mortified in the post-match interview - admitting that's the second time one of his sides hasn't turned up for the fancy dress fixture. Hopefully it'll encourage him to scribble out a few of the names he might have been hesitating about.

Honestly that was one of the worst performances I've seen in donkeys years,it was pitiful, abject, clueless, abysmal...take your pick of words to describe it. In fact Barrow should be embarrassed it was only 1-0 with the amount of clear chances they had, only loach can get praise as he kept the score down. Barrow played with intensity, had a good shape and a tactical plan to take the piss out of our feeble full backs. They didn't go long very often but our 6ft4 centre halfs were constantly out jumped by lads 7 inches shorter. Midfield was non existent and spent the game trotting after shadows,I'd say chasing but that means running a bit. We had zero goal threat,no width...nothing!!. Our fans really do deserve so much better than some of the dross we have to watch, one more season of players like featherstone and I think most of our fanbase will go and top themselves. Absolutely woeful stuff and shown up by another mid table side!

In my opinion Donaldson is better or more effective playing out wide. He is not a busy midfielder. I thought he should have been subbed against Halifax as he just didn’t seem up to speed, misplaced passes and caught in possession a couple of times. I don’t feel he is captain material neither, not vocal enough.

Performances like yesterday can only be a good thing in the long run. It highlights how bad we are, better quality has to be brought in. We can't keep plundering along, thinking we are nearly there. We are miles away from a promotion team and not 3 or 4 players.
