Needs to grow up or seek professional help if he can't see what he's throwing away or indeed already thrown away.

I’m amazed it’s taken until April for his mask to slip, he’s a proven violent thug and always will be.

Why anyone give him a managers job in the first place is beyond me, with his past this could easily end up being another prison sentence.

The irony of Barton is that off the field he’s an intelligent man. His podcast last year was fantastic.

I'd guess that chairman see a high profile name attracting better players and getting fans through the gate.
I'd always be looking for a role model as manager, someone you'd be proud to have your players emulate, more Neale Cooper than Joey Barton.
He's clearly not right in the head, look at his previous form.
I'm not going to name any names but someone who's committed one offence has had his career written off because of the nature of it. Barton is a serial offender and has beaten up kids, stamped cigars out in their eyes yet continues to get chances.
Just for clarity I'm saying Barton should have been scattered long ago not that others should be given another chance.

You can’t even say it’s white line fever as the assault he was jailed for wasn’t football related, it was only really that Man City v QPR game when he’s lost it on the field.

100% do not condone any of his acts, he's an intelligent fella who wrote a good book, speaks intelligently and i enjoyed his podcast.

I think he purports to be intelligent but I’m not sure an intelligent person makes so many bad choices. I mean one of the worst things he’s ever did was that French accent at Marseilles and that’s got lost in all the random acts of violence. Maybe Steve McClaren needs to beat the shit out of one or two or put out a Cigar in Casper’s eye so people stop thinking of him as a faux Dutchman.

Perhaps the dutch accent was already an escalation to hide the indignity of the umbrella incident...and i'm genuinely sat thinking who could Steve McClaren beat the shit out of successfully. He could beat himself up like in the film Liar Liar I guess

And let's not forget this incident as well against Jamie Tandy who went on to feature in Salford City's 'Great Escape' season of 2009-09 as well as seemingly a number of others!

Plenty of very intelligent people make stupid decisions, there is a difference between emotional intelligence and being clever.

What about Pete Doherty he is clearly intelligent but has made plenty of ropey decisions.

He’s like the tale of the lion and the scorpion. The scorpion sees a lion about to cross a river and asks the lion for a lift on his back. The lion refuses because he tells the scorpion he’d sting him and he’d drown. The scorpion applies logic and tells the Lion he’d drown as well so what would be the point of that.
The lion thinks about it and decides the scorpion has a point and tells him to get on his back and he’ll take him across. Halfway across the scorpion stings the lion. Horrified, the lion looks round at the scorpion and asks him why he did it as they’re now both going to die. The scorpion looked him in the face and said, I’m a scorpion, that’s what we do.

Some people are like that, they can be perfectly ok, then suddenly they revert to some primal instinct pattern and fuck up. There’s no logic or reason behind it, it just happens, a self destructive instinct.

do not know if barton has written a book but if he hasn,t i imagine he,d sell a lot more copies after last saturdays alleged affair. even non football people are talking about it.

He's right about Shearer and Warnock though

The more I learn about Warnock the more you realise how awful a man he is. Listening to the Undr The Cosh podcast has opened a few eyes. A lot of these managers like Warnock, Steve Evans and Redknapp are every bit as parasitic as the very worst agents. Chris Morgan basically said that when Colin fined players they had to give a cheque to him! Pay rises negotiated for young players with a percentage of his weekly wage being handed to him was another. Like a real life Fagan.
