Please releasr let me go

Renamed in memory of John Hawksworth, a stalwart member who passed this day 2nd August 2020. RIP Mr Monkeybutt.

Sadly we must add the name of Kevin Minton, Aka Mr Ripper who passed 30/6/22. Kev was also Mr politically incorrect but a nicer lad you could never meet.

Please releasr let me go

So who to go who to keep here are my choices of who to release some of whom may be abit surprising,
Scott Loach makes some good saves but still rooted to his line, plenty of better keepers in this league to choose from.
Carl magnay misses too many games injured and is prone to moments of red mist.
Sean Newton has not been the player we thought we had signed.
Kitching prone to errors no more than a squad player.
Liam Noble most of his goals have come from penalties, a one trick pony with no variety from his free kicks and corners, why does he take all ors most of the deadball situations?
Catterick has not put any pressure on Loachs position,is too small and we should of kept dudzinki instead.
While the defence has improved under Hignett we have not had any speed there since Westwood left. With a few shrewd additions we could be a lot better next season. Get Josh Hawkes on his extension plus another year on a promise we will sell him if the right offer comes in otherwise we risk loosing him for free at the end of next season.
Thoughts please.

Who you get rid of always depends on who you can get in. Most keepers at this level have some flaws, fast defenders who can also defend and distribute well tend to playing in higher leagues and midfield players who score goals (even if you count penalties) aren't easy to acquire.

Add in that most fully committed players have the odd moment of red mist and I start thinking keeping a very close eye on who you can realistically attract to replace players matters more than anything else. To be honest I hope Hignett has already scouted possible improvements and is in touch with them and their agents sounding out who is likely to be available and how much they'll cost in fees or wages. Transfers never come with a guarantee but getting rid and worrying about replacements later is just gambling with precious resources.

Presuming everyone was out of contract id release:

Newton
Hawkins
McLaughlin
Cassidy
Richardson
Magnay (tough one but injuries and we have plenty of cover now)

Possibly release depending on how much wages it would free up:
Loach
Noble

Happy to go into next season with:

Catterick (cheap back up)
Loach (if wages not too high)

Kerr
Kioso
Kitching
Cunningham
Anderson

Donaldson
Noble (if wages not too high)
Hawkes
Featherstone
Williams
Bale

Muir (Worth another year under Hignett imo, maybe with Molyneaux, James, Hawkes all buzzing around it would suit his game better)
James

and attempt to bring in Kabamba, Amos, Molyneaux and Raynes permentely alongside a few more additions.
I'd recommend a more stealthy plan than googling 'afternoon tea dog'.

Agree with your release and retain lists and would love to sign up Molyneux and Kabamba, but for me Amos and Raynes haven't done enough yet to warrant signing. If Amos is picked regularly till the end of the season and does well, fair enough. If Raynes is fit now he needs to come back and do the same. 3 games isn't enough to make a judgement.

Anyway, in Hignett we trust.

I agree, we deffo should be releasing the York City left back Sean Newton.
Arguing with idiots is rather like trying to play chess with a pigeon, it knocks the pieces over, craps on the board and flies back to its flock to claim victory.

Regarding Loach, how careers can change. I read in last Sunday’s paper about Henderson’s 50 England appearance, Capello picked him for his debut, also in the squad was Loach.

As we safe I'd like to see more of Holohan. We've only signed him until the end of the season, so surely Hignett should be seeing more of him in games to see if he's worth giving a longer contract to. Unless he all ready decided what he's doing with regards to him.
I was awoken last night by Darlo fans in the street playing football with a hedgehog
I was absolutely digusted and about to call the RSPCA when the hedgehog went 1-0 up.

You can only release players who are out of contract, did Kitching leave a League One club to sign for us on a one year deal?

Not likely - especially as Pools paid a fee to Kitching's agent.
