Does anyone wear a ring on their little finger? If so, is there any particular reason?

Me dad was always wary of people who did as a lot of the nonces he encountered through his job did so.

I don't wear rings, or any sort of jewelry. I do wear a watch though.
I have asked people in the past why they do wear it on their pinky and each answer has been " it's because the finger it was bought for has thickened and therefore it's the only finger it fits."
I have heard it said it was to signify nonces but knowing some of the lads who did wear it on their pinky, the last thing I would call them is a nonce!!!!!
It might have changed of course.

This is ancient history, back in the days when the love that dare not speak its name was against the law. These days it is shouted from the rooftops, but if any more initials are added to LGBTQ it's going to be the love that nobody can pronounce.

Back in the day gay men had various visual codes and their own slang, polari, to identify one another in mixed company. The pinkie ring thing is one that everybody knew about, so I doubt it has much significance these days. Incidentally, some polari slang passed into general use, including the word "cottaging."

When I was a youth, a pierced right ear meant you were gay apparently.

Am I imagining it or if a man wore an ear ring on a certain side wasnt it a sign of being gay aswell?

Think I remember being told that if you see a bloke with a carrier bag sticking out of arse pocket then it's also a sign. They would enter a cubicle and buck whilst one stood in it so if anyone looked u underneath they could only see one set of feet. Not sure if that was bollocks or not like.

When I was a yoof, an ear ring meant you were a pirate. Especially if accompanied by an eye patch, a wooden leg and parrot on your shoulder.

So what does it mean if you’ve got your thumb in a ring? Sure that is significant. As far as ear rings are concerned I always thought any gadgie with one anywhere was a jockey

Right ear ring if you took it, left ear trendy.

Pinky ring had a liking for Mr Brains Pork savouries.

Hanging around a park with a holdall made you a Fulham supporter!

Obviously which shoulder you had the parrot on told the other pirates whether you preferred top or bottom hammock and which tricks you could perform with your wooden leg.

If you've got your thumb in someone else's ring it means you should definitely wash your hands.

I'd love mince and dumplings for my tea tonight. Won't happen though...

They have to be crispy dumplings, floating on top of the mince.

Absolutely right, not crisping up the dumplings at the end is criminal in my book. If they aren't crisp and floating you should only be able to call them submerged suet balls. Ideally some of the mince should stick together in bigger lumps but I accept that's a matter of personal preference and can live with a smoother mix.
