We haven't signed anyone at the end of their career since Solano and Howard.

Bates and Parnaby were recent? We signed them in 2014.

Our manager is Craig Hignett and our Chairman is Raj Singh. How many of those have been signed under how they are running the club?

Clearly your clueless as you’ve been proven wrong.

We haven’t signed anyone under the current regime (Singh hignett) towards the end of their career or who are mates with the manager (is that even a bad thing)

Must try harder person from the other board whose email and IP I can see clearly

I think its obvious to anyone who doesnt have pickled onions for eyes that they transfer policy under Raj and Hignett is a lot different to how it was 5 years ago.

At worst you can argue under the current regime we signed Williams and Davies.

Whilst Davies is 34 he was a cut above and a worthy signing.

Again with Williams, he's had injury problems but is a League One level player when fit and was more than worth the risk.

I have no problem in the current regimes strategy, considering they're having to box clever.

It’s just more Williams bashing then really. Davies was 33 when he signed and left to join an SPL side, yes it didn’t work out but he could hardly be described as a bad signing or at the end of his career.

Hignett is someone who seems to think outside the box and is prepared to put the miles in regarding recruitment our signings this season have been from far and wide so the comments from Poolie1 hold absolutely no credibility under more than 2 minutes scrutiny. I think it will be fairer to talk about recruitment half way through next season.

Playing devil's advocate the only thing you could possibly say in criticism of the Williams signing was that he did have a long injury record at the point we signed him. Yes he was uninjured at the time of signing but the fact that he then injured himself again shouldn't have come as a huge surprise.

But ultimately, like many others, I'm firmly in the camp of it being worth a punt. When he was with us in League 2 it was a rare case of us having a player who genuinely looked far too good for the level we were playing at.

I agree it would be far fairer to discuss the recruitment strategy during next season.

We really should use an injury record to judge whether one of our own players is going to boot someone in training.

This Borophobia was more understandable (but still stupid) earlier in the season when Bates was struggling as manager, Hignett was DOF and the two ex-Boro marquee signings, Davies and Williams ,weren't doing it on the pitch - because of injuries.

Now it's a complete irrelevance. Bates and Davies are long gone, Williams might be playing soon, no players with Boro connections have been signed and only Michael Raynes has been unlucky with an injury.

Although, again, looking at the records if anyone was going to be "booted" then chances are it was going to be him.

As I say mate I'm not unhappy we signed him because I agree it was worth the risk.

What is funny?

We have signed a lot of players this season, I see no obvious pattern in terms of recruitment policy so your comments don’t stand up at all.

Williams and Edgar are both players in terms of ability who are miles better than this level. Holohan is someone who has been on trial and impressed Hignett who is someone who has an eye for a player. The latter were signed on short term deals. Davies has played loads of games at a higher with no recent injury record. I wouldn’t say any set alarm bells going about long term recruitment plans or a need to change our approach. We are not even 12 months out of an extended period of those in charge at the club selling anyone they could bet any sort of fee for.

in Holohans case, you have made the schoolboy error of taking Wikipedia's or Soccerbase's stats as fact.

This is from his recent Bio at his last club...

"Kilkenny native Gavan Holohan joined the club ahead of the 2018 SSE Airtricity League Premier Division season from recently relegated Galway United. Holohan made a big impression in the preceding season, scoring seven times in 33 appearances including a hat-trick against former club Drogheda United. Holohan is an attack minded central midfielder with creative flair through the middle of the park."

He played 33 matches in 1 season.

Off top of my head about 15 other players have signed...

Anderson
James
Noble
Kioso
Mclaughlin
Muir
Dinanga
Raynes
Amos
Butler
Kitching
Bale
Kabamba
O Neill
Molyneaux

Not sure how many of these fit the constantly injured/best mates with manager profile that we are apparently sticking to.

Wages are better spent on fit players who can play play rather than injured ones. Really? You don’t say!

What has any of that got to do with this kid? Or fanciful release clauses for Premier League and Championship clubs? Have you ever seen him play? Or are your comments based on rumours on the Internet in January? If it is that’s nearly as daft who people who were saying he should have been elevated to first team status on the back of it! Bonkers stuff.

Is there any need? Williams was a free agent. He signed for us after training for yonks. Something like six weeks I seem to remember. They weren't exactly queueing up were they?

Even if you, in your belligerence, dont get it, his point is that Murphy or any other player who could have been fit to play would have been a better investment if Williams injuries could have been predicted. Which they could well have been. So come out of your circle jerk with that braying donkey Yubep kid and your other acolytes and try and be nice for once. Is that so hard?

Are you still mates with hat man?

We offered Murphy a contract, we have signed a load of other players. You couldn’t have predicted Williams getting a totally unrelated knee injury to his previous issues which were muscle injuries (hamstring I believe) this was an impact injury caused by a tackle, bad luck after he had got himself fit and ready to play.

I am being nice to a player who has been through a really bad time who’s taken loads of unfair flack. We have all seen how good he is it’s a real shame how things have gone.

I don’t know why all of them just don’t post on here as themselves, it’s only talking about football and other stuff and it’s not exactly difficult to work out who everyone is anyway.

That we're trying to allow monkeybutt to add 'an Englishman, Irishman and a Scotsman' joke about Pools to his shit jokes thread?[/quote]

An Irishman, an English man and a Scott were having a reunion in a nice British pub in London. The conversation was convivial and they were enjoying knocking back the pints and reminiscing about old times.

The pub was the Englishman’s local and he was proud of the English pubs.

The Englishman says “You know, this is a great pub. The barman looks after me; every 4th pint is on the house. Now that’s hospitality.”

The Scotsman says “Nay, they look after you better than that at my local. At McTavishes back home I get a third pint - an I don’t pay nuffink fore it.”

The Irishman pipes up…

“That’s noothin. Back in Ireland there’s this pub see? An’ as yer walk through the door they hand yer a pint o’ Guinness. Ya drink all night and never see the bottom, they just keep fillin it oop - never asking for a penny. An when yer can’t possibly drink another bloody thing, they take yer upstairs and see to it that you get laid!!!”

The Englishman and the Scotsman look at each other skeptically.

The Scotsman says “Balls! that would never happen!”

The Irishman “Nooo, it’s true.I swear to ya, every word of it.”

The Englishman says “What? did this happen to you?”

The Irishman “Ah no, not to me personally, no.”

“But it did happen to me sister.”

That was rotten luck for Davies after leaving Pools wasn't it? Two leg breaks now and out for the entire season. In this life you just never know what's around the corner.

Everything thats wrong with football, it's difficult not to hope he's dumped by Fulham before his contract expires and left to try and pick up a career with a part time team somewhere.

If I was a lawyer I'd offer my services no win no fee to Pools.

Sounds like Fulham have behaved atrociously. You expect pure greed from the worst type of agent, but as the statement says, whatever was due to Pools would be peanuts for a Premier League club.

It would be very interesting to see Jeff Stelling go public on this one, not as a fan but as a member of the club's board of directors.
The FA should come down hard on Fulham et al over this, purely to protect the moral high ground but I'm not holding my breath.
Stinks to high heaven.
I'd like to commend the club for the way they've approached this matter and I hope they get the result that justice dictates.

I’d be interested to know if the other young lad who was randomly linked a load of clubs the other day on Teamtalk has the same ‘agent’ It’s not too far fetched to assume that is it?

Something needs to be done about these parasites and this loophole that leaves National League clubs open to this level of shithousery, surely we have to be compensated here, he’s been in our set up since he was 9!!!

Is it the same agent that destroyed James's career?

They seem to have manipulated the rules and I suspect we will get very little in return if anything. They have lots more casah to spend on legal battles.

Bet the FA are glad they didn't sell Wembley to the Fulham owner, they would have been well stitched up based on this.

It’s probably a stretch to say a half a million move probably on good money for three years ruined his career, it didn’t work out but he was given plenty of opportunity.

But his pattern of behaviour that forced it, which was totally out of character for Luke, does fit in with the statement about Murphy so it being the same parasite wouldn’t be out of the question.

This is the problem.... If we were a Football League club, we would be guaranteed compensation for Murphy under these circumstances; however, the rules don't apply to young players from outside the FL and EPL, so Fulham aren't legally required to offer us compensation. So potentially they've done something that you could say is sharp practice, but allowed by the rules...

Agree. Great statement by the Club (although I'm a tad confused with MM's 'continuing invest in youth' comment - does this contradict what Raj was saying last week?).

Some interesting comments on all of this over on the HUST facebook page. I particularly like the comment from Allen Grant - describes Fulham FC perfectly.
