Is more important scoring goals or stop conceding sloppy goals?


Also would dropping James into midfield to play in behind the front two give us the extra pace we seem to be missing. He is a better player running onto balls rather than fighting 6 foot centre halves for scraps

Either would be nice, both would be perfect.

I'd argue scoring is more important provided we score more than the opposition. You can't win without scoring but you can win conceding sloppy goals.

Scoring goals is more important imo. Defensive failings can be overcome by formations and numbers but the ability to score goals is either present or not. Earlier in the season, I was virtually the only one that was not overjoyed at a 1-0 win. A 3-2 or 4-3 win would have been far more healthy in terms of reaching a play off spot as goal scoring ability would have been manifest.
We have achieved only one two goal victory this season against Boreham Wood. Most of the top teams have about half a dozen two or more goal wins. That should tell you that we are not at the same level as the promotion contenders.
