If you’ve seen him once in 1976 it’s true you probably don’t need to see him again but I still think it’s very poor of Middlesbrough town hall. It’s his home Town and he’s made a good career out of his act over the years. Apparently he’s very quietly spoken in ‘real life’ and doesn’t like swearing!!

It’s only comedy at the end of the day and if you don’t like him then you don’t buy a ticket. Why the need for censorship? I doubt anyone going to a Chubby Brown gig is going to be offended by his act. Humour is subjective it’s just words he’s not killed anyone why ban him from a theatre?

When I was serving with The Green Howards in the 80's we, as a Regiment, tried to book him to come over and do a show 'for the troops'. He demanded an absolute fortune and the whole idea died a death. We honestly thought he'd do it with us being a local Regiment. Not liked him since.

But if you don’t buy a ticket and attend then you aren’t subjected to his craic. I doubt Middlesbrough Town Hall have that much demand for its stage. His humor is of its time and not for everyone, me being one, but it’s just jokes at the end of the day.

I have only seen him once and that was at Mbro town hall.
It was when a pub called Norma Jeans (opposite Sainsburys)was open that featured topless barmaids. The choice was Mild or Bitter.

used to get the same thing with bernard manning years ago as well as jim davidsons adult act. not for everyone but neither are some of those university type edinburgh fringe types either. everyone is so serious nowadays and frightened if one person is offended.

Saw him at Blackhall Miners Welfare Hall early 80s, before he made it big, great night, strippers anarl ,but wouldn't cross the road to watch him now. Thinking about it, it seems like it was another world, nearly every bloke in the village was there, imagine women letting men do that now?.

I am sure he will perform locally to packet houses after all this publicity.
It up to you if you want to buy a ticket or not and i wont be bothering.
It just shows how things have moved on but who do we have now...........Alan Carr?

Have the town hall 'banned' him or have they not put him on because his ticket sales in recent years have been really poor?

Comedy is like music, different tastes for different people. Tastes change.
I do worry that one day you'll need a degree in comedy to perform.
