He had a good innings, and I have fond memories of him from my youth. 96 years old.

Can't believe it. 96 is no age nowadays.

The endless repeats of that Elephant going to the toilet on Blue Peter will live long in the memory.

I always suspected that he had something over a TV executive somewhere to allowed keep being allowed to churn out another truly lamentable ‘It’ll be Alright on the night’ shitefest. I’ve noticed today loads of celebrity people and comedians going over the top with point that he was actually quite a funny bloke, an admission from them that the only thing he’s ever been on Telly for was actually being honest, bilge. Maybe that was his joke ‘ha ha they are letting me make another one!!’

Anyway RIP Dennis, may your days in heaven be spent watching a loop of someone getting lines slightly wrong on Eastenders and getting the giggles. I am sure you were a very nice man.

By all accounts a really nice bloke who'd been writing scripts since his service in the war with the RAF and had a long career since. I wouldn't judge the bloke by all right on the night.
I don't think he ever offended anyone in his entire life, so calling his work bilge is not really on.

I wasn’t calling his work bilge just that show, which was in my opinion I just don’t find shows like those funny in general but people have been saying what you are that he was funny which is sort of the point I was making.

Pot, kettle, self awareness.

Just throwing some words out.

I thought Alright on the Night was bilge that’s all, funnier than your ‘one liners’ mind but then again so are major Earthquakes but humour of course is subjective.

Can you two not just PM eachother or alternatively meet up and have sex to relieve the tension between you?

Sorry, Lord Highhorse.

For someone who complained about the board last week you've really done a lot to change things. Bravo.

RIP Dennis.

Lovely man and well liked by all, always enjoyed his shows and his witty comments.

Your kind and respectful approach should be a lesson to everybody Mr Tree.

However, although he certainly was a lovely man he wasn't actually liked by all. PJ clearly hated him and I wouldn't be surprised if he was planning some sort of protest at the funeral.

I have already been trolling his family on Twitter.

I feel a bit bad after snowy told me he was a war hero though, maybe I should have laughed at Dean Gaffney getting his lines wrong then tripping over Wellard.

You should show no remorse. Having an online pop at the bereaved is absolutely fine when the deceased was knowingly involved in a long running, non-cutting edge, TV comedy show.

Was just reading an obituary and realised that his name actually only had one 'n'. Apparently Blondie decided to record Denis Denis after Norden enjoyed a three-in-a-bed-romp* with Debbie Harry and Chris Stein. This was during two years spent living at the Chelsea Hotel during his heroin phase.

I wonder if Denis Behan was named after him?
