Boring team wins World Cup. Nothing new there.

In a boring 4-2 game. I agree like, Griezman wasn't anywhere near as good as he is for Atletico and they essentially had 3 holding midfielders in most games. It's effective though so hard to criticise.

Griezman's blatant dive for the free kick that produced the first goal irritated me more - if that was in the Premier League you'd be hoping it would earn him a retrospective ban. The ref didn't need VAR to get that one hopelessly wrong - shame he didn't give Croatia the benefit of the doubt on the VAR penalty review, but he was pretty poor. .

That said, he was no worse than the ref for the England-Croatia semi-final - Lovren got away with 3 professional fouls in the first half in that one.

The only team this World Cup apart from England (for very different reasons) to give me a buzz was Brazil in their match against Belgium. Croatia came close today, but like Brazil, they only turned it on for one match. France played to their strengths but please spare me having to watch them very often.
