RIP Stan, north east legend, Horden boy who served Sunderland, Newcastle and the Boro from the 1950s onward has passed away.

Always struck me as a quiet man who just got on with the job. Lot to be said for that.
Any idea how old he was?

He was 85.

Saw him play in Roker about 1962 with me Uncle Eddie. It was my first footy match and I was obsessed with him. Had a bubble gum card with his mugshot 'n all.

Sad to hear that. I had a lot of time for him. Goodbye Stan.

How strange is that, it was around 1960 when my uncle Eddie also took me me for a walk round to Roker, but he wouldn’t splash out on bubbly for me. Wouldn’t it be odd if we had the same uncle Eddie?

Only player to have captained Newcastle, Sunderland and Boro.
