I stopped reading at former striker.

At what point of Hignetts career was he a striker? Number 10/centre mid.

Hopefully a return of chips and those vile of mushy westlers tinned burgers that were only eadible if drowned in ketchup. We used to win at home when we had those.

One for Monkeybutt probably but what I’d be asking would be were the vans making a worthwhile amount of money? If the answer is yes I’d be then asking what were they doing that the club couldn’t do themselves? It seems daft to see money being spent in the ground and not going back into the club. It’s all down to whether it’s a worthwhile amount and how much it would cost for pools to get the staff and upgrade the facilities to knock out a similar standard of grub and service.

They will be charging but if the vans are paying for a pitch and still making enough that makes them want to continue the arrangement then it points towards lost revenue. For all we know it might not be worthwhile for the outside caterers to revisit it next season.

The biggest cost to a fast food service is labour and the reliability of the staff, I know they struggled with reliability as most we teens and on the piss on a Friday night = hangover= not turning up for shift.
The vans pay a pitch fee, think it`s £250 and the reason chips are £3 to pay the pitch, so 1k profit made for doing nowt, no food cost, no vat, no wages and a decent customer experience, I would wager they didn`t make that doing it themselves!

i would use the empty kiosks in a similar fashion, get a business to pay a pitch fee, sweets would be a winner as loads of kids or sell club merch from them, badges, mugs, duts and scarves.

Yeah I was going to say could we utilise the kiosks in another way, sweets isn’t a bad call.

This. If you're in the entertainment business (using the term very loosely describing Pools' home games), giving your customers opportunities to get fed and watered is an important part of what you do but not your core activity. There's a constant debate about the pros and cons of keeping this ancillary activity in house or letting someone else do it.

Based on my own 30 years' experience of the endless distraction getting the food offer right (and profitable) can cause, I'd say Pools have stumbled onto the best solution - do the bars yourself and let somebody else do the catering.

I go for the retention of the vans but for opening up some of the kiosks for the sales of merchandise and assorted crap/sweets/betting/campaigns etc .
However the vans would have to sign up to quality standards on the chips etc.
The trust to set up a sub group along the lines of CAMRA but for real chips......i will start growing my beard and sorting out some sandals.

Just use the empty bits for more bars. I never get a beer in the ground because I can't be chewed queuing. If there were less queues we'd sell more beer.

Same here, I'm not so desperate for a pint that I am willing to queue for it, but if I could get one quickly I probably would go and have one.

Empty kiosks as bottle bars = greatly increased revenue. Simples.

A bottle bar in each section of the ground would do well.

Isn't anybody considering the likelihood of a bottle top crisis? Opposition goals could be greeted by a hail of the offending items. Imagine clinching promotion only to suffer a massive points deduction because of this wildly dangerous policy.

You'll be demanding crusty pies next and everybody knows that they could easily put somebody's eye out.

I'm not going again until we have this; a bottle bar, behind the away dugout, cash only, with only ten bob bits given in change.

That's virtually a confession to being the third coin chucker in the attempted assassination of Hodgy. Oliver Stone will be in touch.

"Burnley's Martin Hodge has emerged as a candidate to succeed Tony Henry as West Ham's head of recruitment.

Former Everton and Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Hodge, 59, has a wealth of experience as a scout and was brought into Burnley by their former sporting director Frank McParland before taking over that role which was redefined as head of recruitment.

Hodge has since worked well with manager Sean Dyche to help find the players they have moulded into a top seven side."
