I see the second semi is on tonight at 8 till 10 on BBC4.

I wonder if the standard will be as high as 2015?

They should rebrand it as Euroshit.
Fecking goat herders from the backwaters of Europe voting for the best of the goat herders a wailing.and a warbling about life on the collective farm.

In more PoKish news China have just banned the whole thing off their networks because the Irish entry is gay. Their intelligence networks can't be up to much if it took until this year to spot Eurovision's large gay following.

At this rate everyone is going to have to stop pretending that Eurovision isn't political.

Still, at least they have the decency (or sense of irony) to give the UK - and France, Germany, Italy and Spain - a bye into ever final. That would be handy in the European Championships.

Cyprus 11/8 (fav) and UK 150/1 to win.

No Poland this time but they did make themselves look like tits in 2015.

Its great being part of the big 5. Don't have to qualify, and even if you finish on Nul Points don't get relegated or even have to qualify for next year? (If only Eurovision did football!!!!).

FTR Ireland deliberately sabotaged their acts for a few years as , as winners they would have to host the next year, and they couldn't afford it.

Eurovision isn't political its cultural.....why do people insist that Joe Soap in Georgia, San Marino, Slovenia etc know our politics and therefore hate the Brits so wont vote for us. FFS. Other countries send their biggest stars who are famous in several countries (like we used to do) so do better. We send rubbish songs and unknown singers but hey we are British so expect to win regardless.....

It doesn't matter how many times you say it, I don't agree.

And it's not all about us Brits; that's just the thing we tend to notice the most. None of the Big Five on the Eurovision tend to do very well, despite (or maybe because of) having a bye into the competition every year. One winner in the last 20 years between them!

On the other hand, it's impossible to ignore how the way the Balkan countries invariably give the majority of their votes to each other, or the way the former Soviet republics do the same thing, or the way the Baltic and Scandinavian countries stick together too. 16 of the last 20 winners came from those three blocs.

Because their pop music is so great? Yeah, right. You could make a case for Sweden at any rate.

It's like a car show where the LADA owners club turn up in numbers and vote for LADA as car of the year.

Well, since we're leaving the EU, maybe we should set our sights on an even grander project. We start by leaving the Eurovision, and since there are countries like Australia and Israel in it, that could be a foothold for a Worldexit.
Surely the English public would be as happy as a sandboy with that.

Badly! First time I've watched it in years and what got me was the divergence in views between the expert panels and the public.

But, in more important news, I'll never waste my time on it again.
