I was impressed with both those interviews and also impressed that there is a solid commitment to everyone pulling in the right direction and together.
I get the impression that the theme is based around what a person can do for the club other than the other way round.
It's early days I know but I'm starting to get more and more confident that we are in good hands and that real progress will be made.
Onwards and upwards.

They were both very encouraging interviews. Loved how long term Hignett was talking and I think my favourite quote came from Bates when he said that people have been calling for an experienced manager (me included at times) but I loved the self confidence in “if they have been managing in the National League so long they can’t be very good”

Superb interviews.

Well we'll see how good he is this season then eh?

We need to find out how good a manager is beyond one season, and we need to have one who is allowed to build a team and progress without offield incompetence and worse. The blame the manager culture at Pools has let chancers and crooks off the hook to a degree over the last few years. Even Ken Hodcroft and Russ Green used a few managers as fall guys (*cough* John Hughes) to mask what was really going on.

The focus now seems to be on the team and getting results.

I will judge the new regime in 2019/20 season as it will take a year to clear up the mess of previous owners and so called footballers still drawing a wage from the club.

The trouble is though the blame the manager culture is engrained in a lot of fans. I agree with what Hignett says as small steps - if we end up top half next season with some better performances then that is a start. Ok it wouldn’t be fantastic and we should still aim for higher, but we have to be patient and realistic. However for others who attend you can still predict that a five game winless run would lead to “Bates out” being called.

My comment was tongue in cheek regarding Bates' very confident remark. I'm fully behind Bates and glad he got the job.
