Been hearing this off a few people today, Be a shame if he went I'm not suprise drop be honest if I were him I'd jump ship to Salford, Chances are they will be in the playoffs next year or there abouts I am imagine them recruiting a fair few players to at least challenge for the playoffs.

One off very few players worth keeping in my opionion loves a 50/50 can tackle, Got in double figures in a piss poor team from midfield, Good luck to the lad without a doubt if he goes to Salford hel score against us.

Oak...ay that's enough praise. He's had his good spells but other times we've not been able to see the Woods for the trees, or planks in Pools players case.

To be fair, with Bates at the 'elm I'm knot surprised that the poor sap wants to branch out and ply his trade elsewhere.

It is to be hoped that RajHiggy are at the very least making a serious attempt to retain the likes of Woods and Donnelly. It will be difficult enough to rebuild this predominently hapless squad whilst being hamstrung by the enforced retention of 5 or 6 no hopers that Watson/Harrison introduced without having to replace two or more of the precious few players who possess a modicum of quality.

Not only would the departure of this pair send a signal to potential recruits that Pools supposed promotion ambitions are not to be taken seriously but would also have a damaging impact on the fans current positive perception and expectations of the new regime.

He was like the curates egg, good in parts. Was he a consistent player over the four years? I suspect some people have the rose tinted glasses on.

Go all out to keep him. Without his goals we would have undoubtably been relegated. Woodsy seems to have found the key to being in the right place at the right time in the box. You could argue Loach kept us up, maybe, but Loach is a goalkeeper and goalkeepers are paid to make saves. Woods is a midfielder and not a striker yet he has outshone our strikers. A midfielder who has scored double figures and more than anyone else at the club is worth his weight in gold.

I think wanting to keep hold of Woods boils down to people not knowing enough about other players at this level who could do a better job. To be honest, I don't know anyone better than him but it doesn't mean that there isn't someone more suitable. I think he a decent player actually but will trust in Hignett and Bates to recruit better alternatives. Takes a certain type to thrive in this league.

Have they gone and appointed Bates behind my back?

I just think the reason it's not been announced is that no one has told Raj he has to tell the local media what to write.

To offer another alternative view as per a few of the others above. He is reasonably well liked because he makes a crazy challenge per game which if executed our fans love, but apart from that he is pretty much anonymous most games in terms of contribution and even touching the ball. To be fair he's added some goals to his game this season which have been instrumental in the points to keep us, up but a central midfield player who goes through games never touching the ball isn't really a must keep for me

I wouldn't lose any sleep if were to stay or go. We have too many midfielders who are relatively similar in style and Woods is no better or worse than the rest.

That comment right there to me sais something about our club in saying that a 18-19 year old who has hardly had a number off appearances is our best midfielder, You don't think woods is our best midfielder or are you counting woods out off this if he goes?

I have heard neither Salford or Peterborough but Exeter are interested in him

According to the local papers last week Woods, Donnelly and Rodney are all out of contract and off out of Pools.

With so many others still under contract it stands to reason they will all go to make some room for new faces. Not that there's any reason to think the first two would stick around even if new offers were made.

I just have a feeling about Rodney that if he goes we might regret it.............Remember Jamaine Easter!

Or for those younger fans, remember Steve Howard. We let him go too soon.

On a serious note, Rodney's one of the few players I'd want a on a long term deal. He still young enough for his career to go either way but we're at a level where his attributes should really be suited to.

If I recall correctly, Jermaine Easter, who had always been overlooked by Turner/Newell, was given a chance by Neale Cooper — still as a sub because he never once started a league match — and he played a stinker, and it was an attitude stinker. And if there was one thing Cooper hated it was bad attitude. The same week, I believe, he shipped him out to Cambridge on loan where he started doing well. And we finished in the play-offs.

Ah the good old days when playoffs were the norm and Easter was considered a bad player...

I recall Easter as a player with a complete lack of confidence due to whatever reason.
The last game i saw him in he came on as a sub and the crowd just groaned,no boos just a groan......poor bugger!
He beat a few players and passed the ball to one of their players.......more groans.
Rodney gets a bit of stick which i dont like and to be honest if i was him i would leave.
Just look at the transformation of Adama Traore under Pulis, Rodney has something and with a good coach he might well turn out to be a good player.

Turner and Newell stuck Easter in a stasis pod. I don't blame Easter for having developed a bad attitude, but once he did there was no coming back for him at Pools.
