Canny bit of PR by the Falcons. There was a big crowd, I reckon not far off 30k; that's way more than follow the rugby team regularly. Black & while scarves everywhere. The atmosphere had a very footbally feel about it.
When the Newcastle winger Goneva scored, he did a Shearer salute he'd been practisig all week.

The match was shite like.

Crowd was announced as being over 30,000. Decent day out.

Wasn't a great game but hopefully it got a lot of publicity for the Doddie Weir charity, a top player and by all accounts a top bloke as well
