So presuming this takeover goes ahead, how does he best go about winning over the fans who remain sceptical?

Having Stelling and Hignett on board is obviously a good move on his part.

Not changing manager whilst things seems to have picked up slightly will also do him some favours.

More transparancy than previous owners? If the Trust are involved then that would suggest he isnt afraid to answer difficult questions etc that are posed in the interests of our fans.

Poolsworld interview or is he not the type to like the limelight? Maybe stuff like that would be Hignetts job?

I think in order for the club to win over the sceptical, fan representation is needed on the board. Hopefully, the trust can continue their fundraising and get a seat on board, anyone against somebody on the board representing over 1/3 of the fanbase is daft.

The last 2 owners have both came in promising more fan engagement and fan representatives bla bla bla.

Neither fulfilled that promise.

If the trust could get their dosh up to about 100k, then i'd say approach singh for a stake and get involved.

They represent over 1,000 fans, it makes sense to have them involved.

Best way to win over the fans. Run the club within budget and use what little finances we have wisely.

Not sure how easy that is to quantify, but a sustainable Hartlepool United is imperative.

1) Pay the bills.
2) Don't take out loans from loan sharks.
3) Build a squad capable of promotion next season.

It's been too much for the last 3 owners.

You're right of course, but then so is the saying 'you can't please all of the people all of the time.'

Pools staying up and starting next season on some sort of an even keel looks great from here, but if we're not in a play off place after 5 games some people's 'patience' will already be wearing thin.

First it will be 'sack the manager,' closely followed by rumblings about the new owner's lack of commitment.

3 year plans and that are great, but when Pools have just lost at home to Havant & Waterlooville the scrappy side of human nature will out.

My post was meant to be what can he do to win over fans in the next day or two, ie with announcments etc.

Obviously long term - winning games and paying bills is all that really matters.

Don't fancy Hignett as manager, but if this is the case, will just have to run with it , only time will tell.

Wonder who the fan on the board is going to be?.

Whoever invests the most money I would imagine. I think HUSTS pot stands at about 70k from memory, it'll all depend on whether Singh/Stelling need that I would have thought.

My nose tells me they've waited till the last possible moment and got the Club (and it's liabilities) for substantially less than they would/could have done a few weeks back.

I'm hoping they don't need the Trusts money, and that can be kept in the pot, and added to, for the future security of our Club. If they can build it up to £150k (not unrealistic given the fact they've raised 70k in 6 weeks) then that's going to be very handy.

I agree with Elvis's post but on other hand as per the original question/points if there is fan representation on the Board of the club and it isn't from the Trust which represents a fully paid up legal body of at least a third of the core support (more if you consider it has adult members only) then something is more than a little off. Any business would do well not to disenfranchise over 30% of it's customers!!! (I know I know I hate calling a football club a business but ultimately Singh is a business man and our Jeff is a PR man so they would consider things on these terms I would imagine - unless a rabbit is away somewhere and they want a puppet representation on there as a PR stunt)

Technically you could say Jeff was the fan on the Board. Just being a pedant (on behalf of a mate) like. sctatchinghead

I would prefer to see the trust hang on to their money ... just in case. You never know what the future brings and if Pools need someone to step in at short notice the trust have to be ready.

The future looks rosier than two weeks ago, but we all know how quickly things can go pear-shaped.

Clearly anyone representing the trust/fans on the board would have to be chosen very carefully. The qualities needed are wise, intelligent and analytical as opposed to clever, shrewd and sharp, which seem to be mr singhs attributes
