There is a comparison between kid's junior football and the stuff we are forced to watch this (and future) seasons. Junior football matches are dominated by the bigger, often rough, lads. The smaller more skillful kids are unable to overcome the physical disadvantage.
Harrison clearly believed that our more skilled FT pro's could play refined form of possession football to overcome part-time and less skillful oppositon. How wrong he has been! Direct physical tactics have produced results for the opposition more often than not. The poor surfaces often encountered in the NL contribute to the aerial form of the game. We must change our approach in future.

If it were down to me, youngsters would not be allowed to play 11 a side games but to practise tricks with a ball to become ' comfortable' with a football. When Ronaldo first played for ManU much of the British press and many pundits labelled him as a 'one trick pony', illustrating their lack of appreciation and importance of ball skills. Coaches cannot teach ball skills so concentrate on team structure, dead ball positions etc. When we watch the best in the land, England, play are we not dismayed at how uncomfortable most of the players are when in possession of the ball? It says it all.

4-4-2 is the only formation, with a Big lad up front, AND the team should be written on the back of a fag packet with Lambert and Butler in the squad!!! Fact!!!

Maybe I played football with weak kids but I had a pretty successful "career" playing up front in kids football but in men's football I can just about manage playing full back and even then I'm probably the weakest on the field. Apart from one big lump we used to come up against I never thought it was the bigger, rougher lads who caused us problems.

I don't think going for more physical players is the simple solution to our problems. It's not what any of us really want to watch as much as we might like a "sturdy challenge" and I couldn't possibly count the times that people on here have slagged off the big/fat/burly etc etc striker's we've come up against. Obviously you might feel differently about these players if they play and score 20 goals a season for you but still I'd rather be sh*t and trying to play football than sh*t and playing hoofball. But hey, damned if you do, damned if you don't. If we did have a more physical team we'd be praised for beating a weaker outfit one week and then slammed for being passed out of the game the next week by the same sort of team.

Harrison's idea of possession football was possession for it's own sake with no drive or purpose. No real attacking intent at all. I don't get this opinion that the other teams in this league are all hoofing cloggers either. I've only seen home games but most teams seem, technically, at least as good as us, but with far more enterprise and energy. Our 1 up front and everyone else cowering on the edge of our eighteen yard line formation might have had something to do with it.

I thought Aldershot were excellent, and hope they go up, but for a lot of sides in this division attack means someone punting the ball upfield for their forwards to chase down.

only been to 6 games but harrison had a problem that there is no great height or pace in the side so had to play that way. then by doing it showed the players had no stamina either.

Harrison was always a risky appointment given their level he came from , he had his idealistic way of playing and the type of football we should be playing . sadly it just didn't work . in this league have to agree 4 4 2 and a big lad up the front is the way to go in this league to get out , sadly his signings have overall been generally poor and did not support his way of playing. It was obvious that Harrison was painfully out of his depth long before Christmas . id liiken him to someone who thinks doing well on Football Manager translates to running areal club.I would imagine the league of Wales is somewhere between the Northern League or Unibond as TNS are the only full time club in that league I think Harrison came in a bit too overconfident in his own ability and wouldn't change his philosophy. The clubs in such a mess at the minute that surely no full time manager will be appointed and I'll be Matthew Bates for the time being?

A fitness coach? Why? We had two first team coaches. Presumably they could have assessed the fitness of the players and come up with a training regime. Obviously they didn’t care to bother.. Application and motivation didn’t exist. Apart from a few players that could be bothered the others couldn’t even look after themselves. Pathetic. I presume bates and Jenkins would blame each other. They both need to go.
