Has Adams ever made a single positive contribution to this team?

Must be up their with some of our worst signings.

Completely agree with you there Mr Serpent. Have to add that it sounded like we showed some fight which was great to hear. Cheered up my Boxing Day no end - a much better result than I was expecting.

Was a fantastic equaliser as well - great team goal.

I get that Rodney is frustrating but that assist was top notch, and some of the stick he was getting was well OTT in my opinion

Pools second goal if only we could play like that going forward more often other than that at least they put some effort in.

Given a crowd of 3500 and 2185 from pools there didn't look like over 1200 gateshead fans in the stand opposite us.

How desperate do you have to be then to put a left footed only player at right back banghead

Thought our two CBs played well today like, credit where credits due.

Anyone know what happened to Featherstone?

Given circumstances going into game and fact we played with 10 men for half of game, a draw is a good result. Shows he hasn't lost the dressing room as some have suggested. Good to have stopped the run of defeats. Nothing to suggest this is the start of better things though. Why he continues to play Rodney is beyond me.

Rodney put the equaliser on a plate for Woods to be fair. Adams is quite possibly one of the worst signings in Pools history. The players finally showed some long overdue bottle and scraped an away point against a very average ‘Heed outfit - no more than that. Nothing to see here, move on.

I am by no means a fan of Rodney, I think he can be a liability with his seemingly constant inability to read the game, but he provided what was apparently a fantastic assist so it seems a strange match to single him out.

If we can pick up two wins from the next two games, which we should, it could be the start of turning our season around. Hopefully some more of our injured players will return as it just obscene the amount of injuries at the minute. With them back, hopefully an addition up front along with shifting some of the dead weight on the playing staff, we could still push for the play offs, so long as we improve - which could make us slightly more attractive to an investor.

Agree.....lets get behind the players and club no more defeatist talk! There was a reaction from the lads today.

Rodney created the second goal with a great bit of skill, and then nearly got a winner out of nothing. He was our only real attacking threat second half when asked for long periods to play up front on his own.

Put a shift in (as all the others did) second half, so no idea why folk still want to have a pop at him.

Err !! cos he is out of his depth maybe? Fair play to him for the pass for the goal, but nearly got the winner describes Rodney in a nutshell.

Featherstone and Newton injured before the game. Adams harshly sent off in my opinion. A ref who was waving yellow cards around like confetti! Had to shuffle the pack again and in the circumstances I though we did well to get back into in with 10 men. Could have won it with a little luck. Plenty of graft and fight today but why in the last ten minutes did we invite so much pressure, even though we defended well.
Still overall happy with the point which ends the run of defeats.

The red card was a bit harsh but Adams is experienced enough to know not to give the ref a decision to make when he's already been booked.

As for Rodney, today summed up why he is so infuriating. For the majority of the game he did very little but then in two second half moments he nearly won us the game. He is still learning but we need to see more of the latter.

The make shift back 4 did pretty well really, 2 identical goals from set pieces but apart from that we kept them at bay. For all his mishaps that have cost us goals, Laing showed what he can do coming out from the back with the ball, he skipped past players with ease and got us on the front foot 4 or 5 times when we were up against it.

It is a sad indictment on the current sorry state of our club when we are celebrating a draw against the likes of the Heed, playing with ten men for 45 minutes or not. However on a positive note it would appear that another long-term contributor (Phil) has very belatedly seen the light in respect of ‘Hapless Harra’ who’s continued negative influence is slowly killing our club just a surely as the owners partly self-inflicted financial issues

I really don't see what anyone sees in the lad, I've never seen him have a good game for us, and he is so one footed it is in untrue. Was a stupid challenge.

So why play him at right back?

I think the last five minutes the midfield was just out on its feet Geoff, and was struggling to press the ball. There were a couple of great 40 yard runs from Laing that took the pressure off but I think by then the likes of Oates, Cassidy, and Woods were just looking to sit in front of the back four with Watson and hang onto what we had got.

I'm sure that the failure to press the ball was a direct instruction from Harrison.

The players must have been told at half time to play in phases to preserve energy for the odd press, which they did very well.

From a spectator's point of view it looks risky/ugly as for 10 minutes at a time they just conceded the middle third, but it seemed to work. When we upped tempo we controlled the game.

At half time with only 10 men and 2-1 down the manager is going to look at the possibilities. I think he did well.

So shoot me.

Great to see that Laing had a good game, like I have said there is a good player in there somewhere, despite some people thinking otherwise.

Rodney has potential, but agree needs some good coaching and to play under a manager who knows what he is doing. Simpson is another one who has potential, and as come in for some unfair criticism. Personally I think to realise this potential he needs to play games, and I would have him in the side instead of Rodney.

Adams is a strange one, like Laing I think there is a good player in there somewhere, but his performances so far have been poor . In his defence he has been mucked about a bit , give him half a dozen starts at left back instead of Deverdics and I think you would see an improvement.

I thought the turning point was the thunderous tackle Woods put in which seemed to motivate the plays for that last phase of the game.
Just before the Woods tackle a Sparrow Hawk flew the length of the pitch. Was it the reincarnation of Brian Clough sprinkling stardust on our players?

At long last, a bit of grit and determination to salvage a point that few thought possible.
Now let's see the same spirit grind out a few wins.

Just watched the highlights could both their goals be attributed to the fact we have all our players defending corners allowing the opposition the freedom of the rest of the park.
I think they will have watched our previous matches and noticed the wide open space from the half way line to our box when Pools defend corners ?
Bearing in mind it was very naive to concede too very similar goals.
