After Coxall scuttled back to the smoke and Pam took the reins, I suspect a lot of us believed it was back to normal. New manager, lots of signings, you just couldn't help feeling life was good and our visit to the National league would be a regrettable blip and we'd soon be 'back where we belong'.
From the kick off though it's apparent that football wise things where not quite going as planned and so it continued, the Messiah wasn't quite what we expected, much like most of the Messiahs signings.
Now it appears the club as an entity is imploding and the latest news looks like the icing on the headstone.
What a fecking circus this turning into.

More worryingly is that some people are still feeling comfortable even after yesterday’s announcement

I know for sure that telling all and sundry that it's costing 100k a month to keep the club going won't have helped our chances of finding a buyer, Surely that must be the gross cost?, there is a small amount of income to factor in. The club should be concentrating on the positive aspects of owning a football club not just the negatives. It's like trying to sell a car but listing only the faults.

Thing is by failing to invest in things that bring revenue in, such as deep fat fryers and a club shop stocked with a choice of good quality goods, you are on the road to nowhere. On a commercial basis HUFC must be running at 20% capacity, the loss of potential revenue not just this season but in past seasons is criminal.

Would love to know how many businesses Pam has actually contacted and how much the Club Shop actually makes in relation to its running costs.

It appears we've just been drifting along, looking the part but on reflection no great urgency shown and no reaction to our performances.
We're a sort of foster club, in the temporary care of someone who has no intention of adopting us. We're a problem child no one wants.

I think he lost any credibility the moment he jumped on board the TMH train

The didn’t dump him he dumped the club, after he’d played a massive part in dumping the club in the shite handing it over to not one, but two, sets of crooks. He knew what was coming and got out.

Whatever good Hodcroft and Green didn’t for Pools this will be their lasting legacy for me.

Ken Hodroft was a shrewd businessman. He knew how to buy and sell companies. He knew how to do a due diligence, or rather he knew the importance of dd in the buying and selling process. He will have had a due diligence carried out on JPNG and Coxhall. Fundamentally, he knew that JPNG existed only in name and that Coxhall was a conman and a crook, but he sold Hartlepool United FC to the crook anyway. He knew that he was condemning HUFC to death. He has much to answer for ...

The club had become a Milch Cow, now there's nothing left to milk.

Over the last 10 years different owners, different managers, different coaches, different players, same business model, same end result.

The club is set up to fail, so it fails, yet people seem surprised.

Until someone does a root and branch review of the football club, and asks of every single internal process " why do we do this ? does it work ? does it add value ? " and removes the stuff that doesn't work and doesn't have value add, then nothing will change.

Great post Chip - that sums it up in a nutshell - the club needed to cut its cloth in accordance with its reduced status at the beginning of the season but failed to do so and exacerbated the situation by appointing the unproven Harrison, permitting him to behave like a kid in a sweetie shop in terms of signing players, appointing his own equally inexperienced coaching staff - and attempting to get this Godawful squad playing football instead of grinding out results with gritty, backs to the wall performances. Also, the club doesn't (and didn't) need 29 professionals, numerous coaching, backrom, ground staff whatever.

Let's hope that when the inevitable happens and the gates of the Vic are padlocked shut, the ground itself is preserved for use by the revivalists as and when that day dawns, as it surely will.

I think the club, along with a lot of other clubs in the lower leagues,t aims to be a mini me of the Premiership. They look and naively think if it works for the big boys it'll do the same for us, so crack on. The reasoning is..... if (for example) they've got an academy, we'll have an academy, yet no one seems to work out the cost and end product.
They are not comparing like with like and fail to see a completely different approach is needed at our level.
We needed a practical, affordable and functional approach to running a club, not fantasy aspirations.

Gormless owners either on an ego trip, money makers or both applying a logic and self delusion they'd avoid making in their own lives or business, thinking they can beat the odds and make a success out of a football club.
Taking over a club and thinking it can be run just like every other business is the ultimate self delusion and we've just got the perfect storm from top to bottom.
Our club is not a plaything, a whim, a nuisance, it's OUR club.
It's not glamorous, but it's ours. We'd like it to stay that way.

Last time I saw Ken Hodcroft was coming out of a Newcastle game with what looked like his grandson around 5 years ago. Newcastle had just secured Prem Lge survival. Hodcroft and kid were bedecked in black and white scarves, both were beeming having seen The Mags beat West Ham.

That is where his true love lies, Newcastle, don't get this romantic nostalgia trip some are on about his tenure here ( certainly not from 2007 onwards) and people calling for his return.
