Some people need to get realistic on here, a few fans moaning out of a crowd of nearly 4k is nothing, at some clubs I can think of they'd be baying for blood watching some of the crap our teams been serving up. I think if anything our fans are incredibly patient, we encourage fully when we start to get a little steam up, which wasn't much yesterday. I was sick of balling encouragement yesterday and they didn't respond to that either. Christ you'd think we were burning wicker effigies of the players at half time. Honour needs to stick to spotting what's lacking in the tactics not criticising our fans.

Agree totally. Some people think it's business as usual, but there isn't time for long term plans, we need to get arses into gear and get on track.
All that matters is achieving the goal of returning to the league.

The National League is rubbish and the current Pools squad is worse!

If the NL was any good, a micky mouse club like Dover would not be riding high as they are. With a squad of 22 including 18 new freebie signings at the start of this season, their results are much better than ours. We need a manager like theirs!!!

I'm sorry Shilts but where has this 3 year plan come from ?

The club is massively in debt, and the owner has openly stated he cannot and will not continue subsidising the club long term. Everything I have heard from those in charge suggests the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM expectation this season is the play offs, and that it is essential the club goes back up while the parachute payment is in place.

One win is six, barely a shot on target in the last three games, performances getting worse, about 2500 fans leaving before the end, it hardly sounds like we are a club going places.

Make no mistake, we have one of the biggest playing budgets in this league, the squad is massive, and the coaching staff is hardly tiny either. We are still very much operating like a FL club with the players staying overnight on a Friday even for fairly local fixtures.

As it stands we are below part time teams , you know, the ones that set off at 7 in the morning on a Saturday for away games at Torquay, whose players have been at work the day before, and that only train together 2 or 3 times a week.

He wont be sacked, the club cant afford to do it, but he increasingly looks like a bloke trading on a run of good results where luck and good goalkeeping were a major factor.

3 points are an absolute must on Tuesday night, and I would suggest he goes back to something like the team that got him out of the shit in October with hard graft.

100% agree Chip, but carefull when you say 3 points is a must on Tuesday, some on here think it isn,t as we will win all our remianing games anyway. FFS!

As much as I like Cassidy, i felt we lost a bit without Oates pace. Not only can Oates win a header or two, he will also try to run in behind which helps stretch teams and no doubt means they will sit that little bit further back than they would without.

From their defenders point of view, there will have been no one at all that they were worried about.

I see the extended highlights have just went up, I aint going to watch them but im guessing there wont be more than 2 clips of us on the attack.

Harrison didn't do himself any favours with the team selection but the fact of the matter is that we haven't been playing good football for a while now.

Don't get me wrong I'm pleased as punch we went on a nice unbeaten stretch with some good wins but for all people talk about us grinding out results and simply being difficult to beat we haven't been particularly good defensively. I felt during the unbeaten run that we looked like a team who could just as easily lose 5 or 6 in a row. As Chip said luck and good goalkeeping were a major factor in the unbeaten run.

Hopefully Saturday will have at least given them a kick up the backside to deliver a better display against Halifax who we really should put away. If you're being generous you could at least argue Aldershot were already in the playoffs with a +7 goal difference suggesting we were at least going to come up against a team who knows where the goal is. You can't really say that about Halifax looking at their record.

If he did want to play a front two Rodney ahead of Oates was a strange choice when you consider Rodney has not scored in the League this season and Oates had scored in the 3 of the 4 previous League games. We have hardly been prolific at the best of times.

It doesn't help when you only have one player pressing at a time, it's got to be a team effort to press the opposition otherwise it simply won't work! If they worked on that in training then it was poorly executed! Aldershot were probably the best team I've seen in this league but that's probably because we were so poor and allowed them to do whatever they wanted!.

I'm not quite as fully paid up a member of the Lewis Hawkins fan club as you are Chip but the fact that he now can't even make the 16 is baffling. What has he done wrong to be behind Newton to even get on the bench?

It's obvious Harrison want to give his own signings every chance, but it shouldn't be at the expense of disrupting the team. There's a definite case for getting Oates, Woods and Hawkins back in the side for some much needed energy and mobility, but for me not at the expense of Cassidy or George.

Even at his present level of fitness Cassidy offers more up front than most of the alternatives. As for George, his willingness to mix it in midfield will be an asset against narkier teams than Aldershot - as long as he stays on the pitch! To be honest, I'd give him the nod ahead of Featherstone on present form.

Where has the love in for George come from? As far as I can see, he’s not even close to Featherstone in terms of ability. He offers a nasty bastard element but he could easily be sent off in a game as putting a good challenge.

The squad is shit and unbalanced yet again. Get back to what at least had us getting results (however that was) with deverdics left back, anyone other than Harrison at cb, and 1 striker. Get the grafters into the 11 so that at least can hassle opposition into possible mistakes as the so called quality players in squad aren’t performing

I’m sure Ledger will be back in the team as soon as he’s deemed fully fit, he had surgery on his nose two weeks ago I know he was on the bench Saturday but he was only just at the point were he was allowed contact again.

On the way to the game on Saturday CH was on the radio saying that Aldershot like to play the ball out from the back and were one of the few teams to do this in our league. He said that in order to counter this we would be playing high up the pitch and pressing them at every opportunity. Well Aldershot did play like that but I didn't see a great deal of pressing and we were sat far too deep.

Either he didn't get his message across to the players or they just didn't feel like it!

It was a very lethargic performance. The first 20 minutes was like watching a friendly.

Craig Harrison cops a fair bit of flack for being a tinkerman but if he plays the same team and the same formation tomorrow night who would bet against Pools getting the same result?

This is one of those threads where I'll be fighting a losing battle so I probably won't bother for long but...

...'must win game'? There is no such thing as a must win game unless it is a must win game. A must win game is one with black and white consequences after it. A fucking league game in November is not a must win game and never will be. Drama queens.

And as for the squad/playing budget/part timers etc...where does that ever guarantee success? Ever? There is a difference between should do well and actually doing well. Look at Torquay, Stockport, York, Leyton Orient, Wrexham and Tranmere for fucks sake. Tranmere are easily the biggest club at this level so why the fuck would we think it would or should be a walk in the park?

I'm sorry but you're living in a dream world if you think it should be nailed on for Pools to go up in any season.

If we keep playing hoof ball and only starting to play 2nd half, we may go down a league, never mind stay in this one!

Nothing positive comes from negativity, play negative and draw or lose, I would rather lose and at least had a go, not sit back and take one up the tailpipe banghead

Is that a get relegated ever statement or just this season?

Asking for a friend...

As threads have a tendancy on here to be dug back up years n years later.

I have been to games this season, I am aware that we are not Barcelona but the League in general is awful. We have lost 2 in 14 and have 29 points, we haven’t lost away in the League since August, talk of relegation is hysterical nonsense.

I didn't bother going on Saturday to be honest, ended up staying in the pub and just watching the results come in. A few of us couldn't be arsed watching some of the boring football that has been played out this season... and it was fairly cold.

Not a chance we will get relegated this season, if things don't improve soon then we will be in a boring mid table finish come April.

To be fair Mr. Shilts most people on here are saying crap performance - must do better, not sack Harrison or we're going down.

We're saving that for if we get beat by Halifax :-)

Only lost 2 but how many won?

I`m not saying we will get relegated but for the clubs sake, we will end up part timers if we don`t go up this year, lose parachute payments and cut the cloth to fit the suit, we will end up with a gnome suit!

Not every team that goes down goes straight back into league two but not every team also disappears into obscurity either.

There's plenty of teams that have managed to maintain themselves at this level without parachute payments. Hopefully worse case scenario we can at least consolidate and build. I guess it all depends how much of a shit state the financial side of the club is in.

I'd rather not find out and just go up this year but hopefully a failure to do so doesn't mean the end of the club. Tranmere have been here 3 years Wrexham for 10. Lincoln also where in their for about 10 years with similar attendances to us.

However, now the anger and frustration has subsided a bit....we've lost twice in 14 games and lost for the first time in what? 8? Not a reason to go all trigger happy and bin the manager.

We have to remember very, very few teams bounce straight back up. It is a rare occurrence.

I will stick by what I felt at the start of the season. Steady the ship this season, play offs are a bonus and go with the three year plan we supposedly have in place for getting back in the football league.

I am actually growing to like the manager. I don't necessarily agree with everything he does (in fact I question a good few decisions) and says but we're hardly massively in the shit and all teams have days where they just don't fucking turn up for whatever reason. It wasn't long ago that he was being applauded for not fucking about when things aren't going well and making changes (South Shields was it?).

It really was truly demoralising yesterday, we were properly and utterly fucking terrible. But having got over myself a bit, I vote for calm and patience.
