There are monuments to War of the Worlds in the town centre because it's about the most interesting thing about the place.

I have to admit I don't think I'd be able to pinpoint Woking on a map. despite the fact I went for an interview there once (i think).
I vaguely remember going past Kempton Park racecourse one the way out. Isn't that near Esher?

I didn't get the job but that was prolly a blessing in disguise.
