Any of you lot got any memories fond or otherwise of this below ground drinking establishment that once shared Church Street? Here's mine:

I think it was 1978 when Sheffield United came to town - big boys top of Div 4. Remember being down there when they entered in numbers chucking half bricks down the stairs. What a fuckin' death trap. Shit toilets and dark as shit and no where to run to. Was there in fact any fire exists? Thought my time had come that day down there. Pools lost 2-3 as well. If my memory serves me right the lads were winning 1-0 in the away fixture and were pegged back 1-1 with i think a 12,000 plus crowd and loads of Poolies.

Must have been 1980s.. my mate Staffy scored for Pools.

My memories of the day aren't of The Devon, but me and my brother saw somebody fly out of the Clansman window as we got off the Number 5 bus....hell on.

Yeah Elvis you are correct - my appy polly logies. Staffy did score as Pools pulled back. It was 6 March 1982 and the 1-1 away was in 1981.

I remember the Devon being a total dive. When did it stop?
