Simpson is a rough diamond but a absolute gem....just do not expect him to be the most consistent player just yet but instead allow him to develop into the super star player he will in my opinion become. He will struggle from time to time until he becomes the finished article but until then lets all keep on supporting this very very talented young man. Not seen a better young forward since Keith Houchen and even back then some fans slaughtered him but most could see a real player developing.

There's something about Rodney. He's one of those players who just seems to make things happen. The combination of pace and power plus the uncertainty of exactly what he's going to do (I suspect he doesn't know some of the time) make him a valuable player. He's far from the finished article but he's definitely worth persevering with. I can see him being largely used as an impact player in the last 30 minutes of games this season but he's a good option to have.

The Doncaster appearance alone should the talent Rodney has, we just need to help him harness it. It is in both parties interests.

Totally agree - if we keep hold of Simpson I can see him being the next Boydy in a few seasons time. Keep giving the lad game time and he will flourish. I think it would benefit him even more if we had an experienced head playing by his side (a propa CF). Who knows we might still bring that striker in CH was wanting.

Yeh Rodney is no where near the finished article but I'm so glad we have him - on his day hes exactly what defenders don't need or want running at them, he is the nuisance attacker that always seems to create something. Again give him another season and a lot of game time and we will have a quality player on our hands for sure.

unfortunately if we don't go up this season I can see him and Loach being the players scouted and moving up the leagues.

From those highlights he looked one of the best players on the pitch.

I tuned into Poolsplayer for 5 minutes and the commentators did nothing but slag Rodney off.

Was the same on Tees , but the highlights do suggest he didn't have the best of first halves. Vastly improved second half as even Tees admitted and I'm sure Poolsplayer did as well. That was a goalscoring opportunity spurned like.

I really like the look of Rodney, good height and build and looks sharp. Kept his composure with that shot and it was a great save to be fair by the keeper. Seems to have some build up play about him in the earlier highlights and awareness of others.

He never seemed to get past 50% of this supposed "pace" that he has. Good to see Magnay have a good old go at him at one point. I'm not sure he got himself out of breath.

Fucking hell we've just had a fantastic away win and you feel the need to point out the performance of a 19 year old who had to come on and play up front on his own as Pools were defending a lead.

Bizarre.

Thought he did well, there was one bit when he held it up in the corner that he looked immovable.

Point taken but there's nothing to stop a 19 year old running himself into the ground. Maybe Harrison told him not to for some reason, but it felt like we gave their back line more time on the ball when Oates went off.

He's learning. He has to get on the pitch to do that. Am sure Harrison will review all their performances.

He's probably never played that situation before either, away from home in later stages up front on your own defending a lead.

I just can't understand the mentality of people who always need a target for criticism after another game were we played like a team and put a shift in, oh and won, especially even more so when it's a raw kid on the end of it.

Well I've heard some positive things about him here lately so thought at the very least he'd look lively coming on. There was a point where he could have taken a player on and been in on goal but pulled out of that opportunity early. He did hold the ball up well I agree and maybe he was playing exactly how he was told, but I was still hoping to see that bright spark. I don't think he can help his body language by the way, he has that kind of languid style.

Early days in his career. He's twice the player he was when he came and hopefully he's twice the player again come the end of the season. We still need that extra option up front he brings.

Everyone is not an expert but in football they have an opinion it's just that some people don't think they have a right to express them.

This always makes me laugh. When people say "some people think no one else has a right to an opinion ", what they actually mean is "stop showing my unadulterated negativity is noxious petty bile, with intelligent and well reasoned argument."

Wondered when you would show up. Must be tough for you when Pools keep winning.

Someone has gone out of their way to pay for an advert free message board, and others have given up their free time to help keep it running.

As far as I can see nobody at any point has stopped you posting, likewise nobody has edited or deleted any of your posts, so struggling to understand how you think you right to an opinion is being threatened.

It's a Hartlepool United message board, and by and large it is frequented by Pools fans. If you routinely come on here slagging off players even when the team is winning , yet never seem to have a single positive thing to say you can hardly be shocked if you get some shit thrown back at you.

I wouldn't log onto a Take That forum and keep banging on about how none of them can sing/dance/entertain and expect folk to like me.

Yep, I agree with that
