Six games is not enough to judge someone.
Took over a side just relegated.
Other clubs raise their game against us.
In a club that until very recently was in financial turmoil.
Has a very small budget.
A club that is hardly a magnet to good players.

Is it possible he's got the best he could drag in and is trying to find a system that works with this bunch of not very good players and the same time trying to gel a lot of new players together?

Maybe I'm completely wrong but a fair crack of the whip is called for.

I'd agree if there were signs of improvement but other than the Chester game it's been progressively worse each match.

No one wants a man sacked for the fun of it, I'm sure everyone would love him to turn it around starting tomorrow but we're as close as there is to experts in spotting shite managers as there is due to the fact it's all we've had for years.

Fair point though, we have to get away from this sack the manager routine. He has had no time really. Yes it might not get better overnight but sacking another manager after a matter of a few months in the role may not be the answer

Why do we? If we keep picking shite managers then we need the right to get rid quick.

Are you really suggesting we should stick with a boss even if he shit and crowds drop and relegation looms?

Just for some principle?

What we need to do is stop picking rank managers.

Have the players already decided what they think?

I wasn't keen on him in the first place, managing a professional side in the equivalent of the northern league who play in front of 150 fans, he's never been in a particularly competitive situation where he's under pressure. It's a totally different world he's in now and I'm not sure he's up to the challenge.

Yesterday had the same feeling as the infamous Martin Scott Blackpool game.

The players don't know what he is asking them to do and he doesn't appear to know what he wants them to do. Luckily for him there aren't any Ben Clarke or Mark Tinklers to explain to him how they feel

thought it might have gone the other way for as a manager he,s not used to loosing so thought he could whip e, all together. obviously the coin has fallen on the other side where he seems he does not know how to stop it.

Having seen Guisley on Saturday, I'd be targeting their right back. Franks would be my first choice cutting in from the wing, I'm not a huge fan but at least he put in the effort on Saturday and has a bit of pace over the other options.

I thought similar til I watched that inept display on Saturday. If we are just as bad today then it's got to be time up. I really hope he can turn it around but that performance against Fylde was extremely worrying.

Didn't sound great but sometimes you just need to scrape a win and then build from there. Reduces the pressure and boosts the confidence.

Today we won with a well taken goal from franks but other than that what did we do nothing.
Whats happened to playing football ie passing the ball because it seems very illusive to pools at the moment.
Im happy obviously with the 3 points but we were only playing guiseley and thats about enough said

We've got two home games now which we should be getting four points from, minimum. We do that, and we've got 9pts from 9 matches. It's not a great start but it's not a disaster.

We don't do that and we'll be in the relegation zone with trips to Wrexham and Leyton Orient in the week after.

Hope you all enjoyed this analysis from someone who's only been able to get to one game this season.

Chip i think your trying to look for positives out of a game of football what was dreadful yes we got the points but surely if thats what we have to be grateful for as supporters its going to be a long hard season ahead.
Theres just something wrong i dont know what it is maybe we expect to much when all i ask when i go to the games is a little bit of excitement and after today no more away games for me its just not what i want to see from pools.
Offcourse i am really pleased we won but football is about excitement and entertainment and once again today there wasnt much of it except for a little bit more effort from the players.

Rodney makes Marcus Richardson look like Ronaldo ( The Brazilian one ) no way is he a footballer. This league more or less is about who has the biggest and most brutal players ( particularly centre backs ). Guiseley had 2 carthorses at the back, big, brutal , but not very good, The teams with big, brutal, but half decent will be the ones who prosper , certainly against us. The Chester centre back McCombe is a carthorse, but a wily one with a footballing brain. I would have him here in a crack. Another player supposedly playing for one of the poor teams is Darren Carter at Solihull, miles better than any of the midfielders on our books.

Are you suggesting that Chip and Pam are having a relationship that skews Chips view of the club Mr Bresslaw? If you are you should say so. Hinting at that sort of thing to discredit people is well out of order. Not least because rumours spread, even when they're unfounded, and that can cause upset for relatives, partners etc.

Either say what you think you know openly in which case they can take you to task, or court if they see fit, or delete your posts and say sorry to the pair of them.

He is a 19 year old lad making his starting debut, playing out of position in a shite team. Very harsh to write him off he is clumsy and not the finished article but is one of only ones we have where you could see him improving and selling on.

Conor Simpson is a similar age and made a similar amount of appearances people were very much behind Simpson but love having a pop at Rodney.

Haway Chip ! Easter was crap when he was here. I always said though he had potential , because he always got in the position to score, was probably just too lightweight and needed better coaching, he clearly beefed up and got the coaching when he left us. It could be the same with Rodney. As for the goals v Donny, yes it was impressive, but plenty of players have their 15 mins of fame, but then cant reproduce it again. Surely most offensive footballers have composure and can do a drag back. He could prove me wrong, but probably not at this club, the position they are in at the moment, like Easter, if he makes it, it will be elsewhere. I hope I'm proved wrong. Like I say about all new players, they need to start in run of between 6 and 10 games, playing in the same position. The fact this rarely seems to happen at Pools has probably been the reason why a lot have failed , yet went on to do okay elsewhere.

On reflection you're probably right, he just couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo, and he was a striker. He was playing in a better team and club we are now, so maybe mine and our expectations were higher at the time. I never harangued him though, as I was always impressed at how hard he worked and how he got into goal scoring positions. When you do that you are halfway there, and it was no surprise he went on to do well elsewhere. To me he was a player who infuriated rather than one who was totally abject.

Can't say the manager's take on the result fills me with enthusiasm for the season: “It doesn’t get much uglier than that to be honest but I’d take that every single week; a clean sheet and win as ugly as that."

Speak for yourself Craig - a win's a win but playing at the level of part timers and scrapping it out for every point through 90 minutes of tedium isn't going to get me along to many matches, season ticket or no season ticket.

I'm still hoping that when we play one of this abysmal league's top sides in a couple of weeks Pools will remember they're a football team, beat the Daggers playing some decent stuff and kick on from there, but I certainly won't be putting any money on it.

Amazes me how much people read into a managers comments. He has to say something, yet seemingly he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

As far as I'm concerned it keeps the journos happy, for me I'd be happier to see 10% of the 'interviews' that modern newspapers and websites carry, they are all full of cliches and bluster anyway.

Easter in particular was to tortured by terrace gobshites, whose grasp of the game was restricted to 'GET IT UP!'.
There was a nastiness about it that was unwarranted. They go on and on then point in accusation when their victim fails to settle. Nonentities playing the bully. Always been one of the problems with the game is 'supporters' who have to be in a players face screaming their abuse.

You're entitled to be amazed - and I'm entitled to be concerned that a manager who started the started the season thinking he was going to play other teams off the park (with the likes of Laing and Harrison passing it around at the back) is now grateful to see a few of his players battling it out for the points.

Dave Jones at least had the excuse that he was used to Championship football and was taken aback by the standard of players in League Two - Harrison has come into the National League from a worse league full of part-time sides. Pools fans were entitled to think he would know how to set up a side to do well at this level.
