I can't believe I'm this desperate for a goal against Chester on a Tuesday in the Vanarama. I'd sell a feckin bollock for a goal right now.
What price did you get?

I really hope we've been trying to sign a centre backs since Saturday, how can he pick those two again?

Donnelly has had loads of stick playing out of position at full back when he looked good when he first signed playing at centre half and played most of his football for Fulham in the middle.

Do we have any other centre halfs on the books? I'd play a 17 year old over harrison he's fucking shit.

This is truly embarrassing.

1 all draw.

I suppose we should be relieved.

It seems we battered them.

Seen this before though. A team plays shite and loses and then play's well but still doesn't win.

Are the strikers a bit shit? I know they were on saturday.

Harrison is a liability, donaldson needs benching as he cant beat an egg, amond is dire, the team don't talk to each other and Magnay is a mime artist.

Hitting the bar four times suggests we were perhaps a bit unlucky but would like to hear from someone actually there.
For me, that team with the glaringly obvious exception of Harrison, in that formation is the one to stick with for a few weeks. We're not going to get a new centre back in by Saturday so I'd actually play Donnelly there. He looked a centre back on the couple of occasions I've seen him play there.
I do actually think the manager is learning from previous mistakes regarding tactics and personnel, which is a comfort of sorts.
Going to be tough Saturday given today's results though.

One thing about tonight yes harrison made the error other than that he had a solid game its laing who looks the car crash.
Overall pools much better with featherstone in midfield but chester were not up to much.
Strange one tonight harrison took deverdics of for munns when really the team was balanced as it was.
Hit the bar 4 times and 3 of them was the underside and not one dropped in thats the way it goes i suppose.
Overall much better football played still need the LHS improving.
Me thinks 451 saturday considering what bromley have done to orient tonight.

Ridiculous comment. Donaldson had a really good first half.

No doubt Jack Blackford and a couple of the other young lads deserve a chance in the team at some point but banging on about the same stuff week after week is going to get really old.

Nice night to watch a game of footie. The early mistake for their goal was a sickener but Pools made loads of chances and could easily have won 3-1.

Thought we played well, looked dangerous from crosses. Unlucky with the three off the bar. The last one would have been Hugh Robertson-esque had it gone in.

Much better tonight, mainly because we played a simple formation and Featherstone was in.

You obviously know very little about football if you thought Donaldson had a good first half, he cannot beat a man because he has no pace or cross a ball and show me where I mentioned Blackford?

The question of who is worse is really splitting opinion. Read dozens of posts here and elsewhere presenting the cons and cons of each.

Why is Harrison being blamed for the goal? It was Adams who played a very bad short ball back to the keeper with his weaker right foot. It happened right in front of us.

Tedious patter.

It was a criticism of our players. We will have loads of different surfaces to contend with this season from farmers fields, mud baths to 3G. Gifting teams goals playing square balls across the our back four (one of the first things you taught not to do as a kid) on a slow uneven pitch is just asking for trouble and highlights how bad our central defenders have started the season. Teams haven't had to create anything to score against us. If I was Harrison I'd be selling a kidney to get a decent centre half in before Saturday.

It was Adams who played the ball back!!! Harrison tried to recover it but failed. Adams held his hand up afterwards acknowledging his mistake

Definitely a big improvement tonight, creating chances and looking more balanced in a proper 442, but scares me to think we can dominate a game, create so many chances and only draw, against a very poor opposition. There 2 centre halves, especially McCombe were like bin wagons on manoeuvre, should of been there for the taking , had we ran at them and drew the foul or played football around them, but no we played to their strengths , and in a backs to the wall scenario , McCombe is still one of the best defenders in this division, the fact Chester have only conceded 2 in 3 games is proof of this, gritty and difficult to break down.

The previous 3 games we have played sh*te , now we have played reasonably well and we know where our problems are, woeful finishing, poor decision making and only winning 10% of anything in the air. Obviously the lack of a decent central midfielder is our main concern , though that weakness wasn't really exposed tonight , but it will be , time and time again. Laurel and Hardy in the centre of defence, though to be fair, they improved as the game went on.

Can this squad iron out their weaknesses, or do we need a couple of new players? I reckon the latter , if we want a top half finish. Some decent individuals , but as a unit , just don't look right.

Cant believe some of the other results tonight, Maidenhead , Guiseley , Bromley ( That's twice Orient have lost on 3G ,wonder if it does make a big difference ? , we will soon find out )

Totally agree about Donaldson would do better with 10 players. Amond simply not the least bit interested and sulking would do better with only 9 players as for Laing you could do a better job with a " pie in one hand and a pint in the other " and we would do better with only 8 players from the start. Harrison and Harrison well the player gives 100% but should only be a bench player and I believe the manager will come good and start to get the results needed to put in a challenge but he needs 2/3 quality loan players from "the big 3" to help.

It's getting better.
Harrison has all the attributes of a steam roller with a steering defect and just as dangerous.
Laing was marginally better, steam roller but no steering defect.
Featherstone made a difference and on the night we were unlucky not to have won.

I suspect it was down to H2O, if you're going to drench the pitch, do it half an hour before kick off.

That's a good point. Can't recall another time seeing anything like the 2 sprinklers at the Rink End going like the clappers just before kick off. And why was it even necessary? It hasn't exactly been a dry summer.

When I saw that happening I remember thinking..if Chester are alert to this they will attack the rink end first if they win the toss. Perhaps we thought we would be attacking the rink end as usual.
If that was the case it backfired.
Maidenhead deliberately left the pitch dry as a bone and didn't cut the grass, we deliberately soaked the rink end.
What is the game coming to.
Are we forcing the authorities to step in with more rules and regulation.......this time on permissible pitch preparation.

The sprinklers were going at both ends and dare say will be on a timer so will have watered each half equally.

Wet pitch or not it was still a under hit and fluffed back pass from Mellish.

Dont worry, our passing game will be well suited to Bromley's 3G pitch.

It doesn't really, they are really slow generally and don't suit passing Football. Teams who play on them are normally direct.

Interesting comment , suppose we will just have to wait and see how these teams do. I certainly think they favour teams who are fit, don't think Chester's centre backs would like 3G. Noticed our players at Maidenhead , taking on water as though they had just trekked 250 miles through the Sahara, and sweating like a tory MP in the local tax office. Fit? I really do wonder. People go on about part time players and fitness. A lot of these lads are down the gym every night, and have jobs as personal trainers as opposed to dustbin men as in the past. They are probably in a lot of case fitter than the full timers, who spend an hour and a half a day pissing about with training cones, certainly stronger. Early results allude to this , though I would imagine quality should tell in the end.

Might be a petty comment but what are the point in our "ball boys" Sat in two's about 15 yards apart on their phones and then don't actually retrieve the ball when it's near them. I know I sound like a right old man saying this kind of shit but in some situations it does help to actually get the ball back fairly quickly.

Someone sat near us pointed that out. Pretty reasonable expectation that the ball boys get the ball.

Sometimes right old men make valid points Joe. You've made a valid point.

But if nobody Instagrams them to say they need to get the ball how are they supposed to know?
