I think it`s the chest full of medals not having been earned that is the issue, not the occasion.

Its one thing remembering these events , and another getting it rammed down your throat at every opportunity, as has been the case for the last 20 years. All part of making the British people more jingoistic, an us ( and the Yanks ) against the world mentality. Working class lads slaughtered when it could have been avoided. And we were daft enough to do it again 20 years later, even though in the intervening years the Royals, rich and powerful continued to treat their subjects like shit.

I think both William and Harry have served on the front line in Afghanistan.

Harry and Andrew both earned their medals. Charles on the other hand looks like an American general without having ever put himself in harm's way.

The issue is that Harry and Andrew aside, their decorations were all presents from Mum and represent the extreme of the completely devalued honours system.

thought it was against the law to wear medals and decorations that we not earned by the person who wore em. sure someone got done last year for it. just don,t see why there,s all this chearing, bowing and scraping for people like them. oliver cromwell got it right by saying he,d bow to no man apart from his maker. love to be awarded something in the so called honours list just to be able to tell em where and how far up they could stuff it.

what was the point and why do these people think they need to serve in the forces anyway. most of us never have or even wanted to do in the 70,s. probebly only to give em chance to wear a uniform at a later date and do a behind closed doors re inactments. sod em all.

He is entitled to wear every one of them as I have already stated


So, so far we have concluded that the royals that appeared on TV have all served in the military and are wearing medals/decorations that they are entitled to wear.

If you're refering to The Duke of Edinburgh, he served in the navy throughout the Second World War in convoy escorts like my dad did and two of my uncles, not pleasant. I believe he served from 1939 to 1952 and quit reluctantly after the coronation.
I think it's safe to say he earned his medals.
