I was inspired to this by the best goal thread at the Vic and was thinking of this sublime effort by Effion, goal number 2.

It'll always be Eifion at Darlo for me, the technique was unreal.

Paynter at York was decent as well 2 year back.

Steve Howard scored a screamer one day away at someone, may have been in his centre midfield days? Possibly away at Tranmere? Seemed to remember from about 30 yards.

Honour at Maidstone.
Dalton away at someone after we went full length of the pitch with some nice quick passing?
Shuggys free kick away at Tranmere.
Williams at Darlo
Nelson at Peterbrough

Eifion at Darlo
Mickey Brown free kick at Darlo
J.J.J. Allon while sitting on his arse at Darlo

There are plenty to pick from...

Eifion's at Darlo best strike technically.

For sheer euphoria it has to be Jon Daly's at Cardiff.

1991 at Shrewsbury best away goals I'd say. Like Brazil that day. Beautiful strip and hair.

Maybe someone can do a proper link.

Great side; enjoyed watching those clips again. Whatever happened to Tupling's Barber?

Has everyone forgotten Thomas at Grimsby?

Monkhouse at Mansfield sticks in the memory because I was sat behind the goal in the perfect position to see it.

Magnay at Crewe was rather good too.

Oh yes and Duckworth at Carlisle, everything about that goal was the dogs bollocks.

Eiffon's away at Darlington is the right answer.

Ones I'm surprised not to have seen mentioned yet include James Poole's first away at Rochdale in 2011, and Tony Sweeney's late equaliser away at Hillsborough that same season. Both volleys from outside the area unless I'm completely mistaken.

ALSO in that season include James Poole's solo effort away at MK Dons and an honourable mention to Paul Murray bagging from outside (just inside?) the box with a header away at Chesterfield.

Best combination Barron/Eifion.
Best individual Mike Nelson.

Best I've seen was easily Eifion against Darlington. I remember Boydy scoring a cracker away to Huddersfield too.

Great day out that. I had that top as well, think we only wore it a few times, which was 3 more than I did, remember wearing it at Macclesfield ( Chester ) in 1992.

Eiffion at Darlo probably the best goal.

Bob Scaife at Darlo 1975 was a screamer.

It was a free kick arrowed into the top corner, great strike but even though I don't think they outright don't count like penalties I reckon a 'best goal' should be from open play.

Great left footed striker was Behan.

Behan's free kick technique was basically to tatie-end it as hard as he could. If he was lucky he got it on target. Or take out one of the opposition.

I don't think he was really bad, just poor and out of his depth in League One.

it was a very good goal to round off a very, very good away performance (remember them?!)

Shuggys free kicks were better though.

He actually had a really good game that night, shame he couldn't keep it up.

The best goal, bar none, is one that sparked the best 3 weeks in Pools history.

We have never had a three week period like that before and probabaly never will again.

And without this goal it wouldnt have happened.

Maybe you had to be there. Well I was.
.
And we went mental.

I give you Tony Sweeneys headed equalizer at Bournemouth.

I win. Now lock the fucking thread

Pleased someone nominated that one, walked through the whole defence such as it was and slotted the ball in. Think Aaron Wilbrahim had put Stockport in front early on.

Eiffion's second at Darlo has to be the best, his first was none too shabby either, the brilliance of the second overshadowed it a bit.

The same with Humphreys' at Accrington, Eifion's was a cracker and a much better goal IMHO.
