Traveling back down to Hartlepool from Mackem land in the next few weeks and looking to treat the missus to a nice meal.. Any recommendations?

Unfortunately the Venezia society thread mentions don't constitute a "nice meal" according to her....

Always enjoyed the Thai on Marina. Always freshly cooked and they don't rush it out.

Like Ron says, Agora.

Me and the Mrs rarely get out as a couple but we got a couple of hours last Tuesday, went down the Marina and tried Agora "on spec". Absolutely DIVINE!

Recommend the Chicken Shish, and the Efes beer!

Got to agree with tREE, the Thai place on the marina is very good. We went to Hunters on the marina the other week nd that was also superb

Yup, took the lad to Agora on Tuesday night - very nice place, food good and lovely waitress. Bit chilly near the door for a softy Spaniard, but recommended.
