A tough question really, we've seen some great strikes from the likes of Robertson, Humphreys, Boyd, Porter, Watson etc...

Michael Maidens' strike against Huddersfield always stands out for me. Not for any sentimental reason, the technique and the swerve with the outside of the boot wouldn't of been out of place at the top level.

Although I do seem to remember a Matty Robson goal against a chesterfield team that hadn't been beaten in about 15 games. Got the ball on our box, blitzed past 3 defenders and lashed it into the bottom corner from about 25 yards. That and huuuuuuuugh'a thunderbolt v Luton

Always enjoyed James Browns goal when he received a short corner on the byline, twisted past one or two and slammed it home.

Boyd v Sheff Wed , especially given the conditions on the night. Roberston v Luton and I liked Brian's cheeky lob in the League Cup v Stockport

Dunno about best, but these are the goals I celebrated the most:

Bob Newton's winner against Crystal Palace FA Cup 3rd Round, January 1978.

Jon Daly's header against Sheff Wed at Cardiff...

Devante Rodney's second against Doncaster.......

Spot on. I was thinking the same. I still chat about that game with fellow poolie. Brilliant strike.

Jon Cullen scored an absolute cracker dribbling past half a team from the right wing towards the Town End that's worthy of a mention. Can't remember who it was against, maybe Scarborough or Lincoln?

I got a video of that on my phone at the time. Always thought it was great, but when you watch it now you can't see a thing.

Foley's for me, it's the context that makes it. 100 appearances 0 goals, then he scores an absolute screamer to knock a Premiership team out of the FA Cup.

Just watched a youtube video about both Brown and Foley. Browns said goal is the last bit on it. Foleys cracker at home in the JP Trophy is also a beauty, he werent even left footed was he??

In fact all 3 of Foleys goals in this clip are with his left peg. The after 1 minute is a right cracker.

I remember a last minute equaliser away at Lincoln like that. He also scored from his own half (or at least the half way line) away at Swansea.

I remember celebrating Sweeney's last minute header against Leeds like we'd just won a cup final.

Last time we talked about Simon Walton's tan it ended up in a debate about Wes Brown's ginger hair.

He is king of the tan.

Hugh Robertson v Luton.

I have never seen a ball hit that hard. It came from a rocket launcher.

There are a few I've genuinely been in awe of. Boydys chip, shuggys thunderbolt, but I have a soft spot for one of Shuggys free kicks into the town end goal. He put it perfectly top corner but the ref disallowed it as he wasn't ready. For shuggy to step up and put it in exactly the same spot was a thing of beauty.

Similarly. The goal that was disallowed in the last minute as the ref had blew for a penalty, only for the penalty to be saved. We scored from the resulting corner. It was like we had won the FA Cup when it went in, absolute bedlam. Can't remember the young lads name that scored it

1-2 against Bournemouth going into injury time, I think we missed a penalty, had a goal disallowed but still won 3-2!!

These posts have stirred the memories. Doig at York in 88, as already mentioned Mckinnon v Wigan, the game my fav pools keeper was shaky as fook, was turning point for him as he was magnificent after that. Mckinnon v Blackpool at home 91, and at Bolton 92, Olsson at Shrewsbury 91, Brian at Maidstone, firkin hell, imagine what it must be like to follow a successful club?.

Robertson's would have been the record hardest shot if there was any proper telemetry on it. I've seen video's of Hirst's shot and it's nowhere near Hugh's.

I was at that Bolton game in 92 and remember it quite well (for some reason!) and I'm pretty certain Rob Mckinnon didn't score. We were in the half end behind the goal, the other half being a Normid Superstore it was really bizarre halfway up the terrace you couldn't see the corner flag at superstore side. Anyway I think Paul Ollson got our first, and the second was comedy gold. In the days of back passes the Bolton lad at our end found the bottom corner from outside the box, no chance for the keeper.

If we're talking best away goals Steve Howard's at Tranmere in the Coca Cola cup in about 1997 takes some beating, volley from about 35 yards.

I think we drew 2-2 that day, we won 2-1 the season after we where in the side paddock not the supermarket end that day. I remember the winner Paul Proudlock hit the bar with a header and Andy Saville smashed in the rebound.

I miss visiting big old grounds like that, Leeds Road was another cracker a bit similar to Burnden Park.

Wasn't at that 2-1 win, was in Glasgow for a wedding , was over the moon when heard result. Yeah those big old grounds, you could incur a knee injury just going down a terrace at Burnden Park. Everything about and around the place was nostalgic, moody, industrial decline, days gone by, better days. Loved it.

One of my favourite players Walker. For a few month in 1985/86 him and Honour were brilliant on the wing for us.

Paul Dalton vs Exeter in the 90's which started with Guckers spectacular headed goal line clearance and Dalts running from edge of own box to score. Damned fine effort.

Scott Flinders header in last seconds against Bournemouth was pretty cool as was Steva vs Barnet when he scored after a mazey dribble in the first minute or so of a 6 goal jumping of them. Sweens last gasp bullet header vs the wankers from Leeds

Bakes lob to make it 3-1 vs Northampton was orgasmic too

Two overhead kicks haven't got a mention that should have.

Paul Baker in his four v Stockport and possibly even better Kevin Henderson v York.

Whenever I hear Midgelys name I always just think about him, Miller and Stevo keeping the ball in the corner flag area at end of games and generally taking the piss.

Steve Statue scored an absolute beauty bullet header from the edge of the box right in the top corner towards the Town End towards the end of the his first spell with us, might have been '97, to rescue a point. Memory is going and can't remember who against I'll try and find the highlight but I remember it being Shearer-esqe

Ha never noticed that, is that you on the picture at the bottom next to the post? If it is that will be me next to you it's where we used to stand in the Town End! Not sure it's the Northampton game like it doesn't look full enough.

My Dad appears to be wearing a flat cap!? It was mainly Joe Allon who was a target for his vitriol strangely given how many he scored that season. It was quality away Runcorn when Joe bagged his Hat trick goal and ran to the away end and smacked a kiss straight on my Granda's lips, he was furious when he emerged with his glasses all twisted after the mass of bodies retreated

Baker scored a beauty of a lob against Torquay in about 1996/97 just before half time, I missed it getting sent for a cuppa by my dad but it look great on the TV!!
